Ok I'm starting to get hateful here Wink
I can't for the life of me get a decent line
I'm trying to use a 4 round snaz paint

I figured that maybe the paint was too think and loading it to the farrel was a waste of time seeing as the paint will not come down the brush. I tried watering it down more.. i have many cakes of paste now.

I seem to be able to pull it off a little better when on a fresh canvas, but not at all when i am going over a base coat..

Plz help before the wall helps me make some split cakes Wink

Are you doing line work with snaz? It's a challenge to say the least. Only suggestion I hav is practice the line work in white on your arm. Swirls curls outlines, thin to thick, thick to thin. I go thru a pack of baby wipes a week lol. When you can try some Wolfe white or black. And what brand of brush also makes a difference.

I find Snaz wonderful for sponging but difficult for line work. My line work's bad ANYWAY, but then I've been doing this less than 2 weeks so I'm cutting myself some slack on that.

Personally, I highly recommend (again) the Wolfe white and black for linework. You can get "appetizer" palettes that have 6 little basic colours in, and they're great for trying them out without investing lots of money. Alternatively, I absolutely love my Superstar "Line Black". I got a little 16g cake of it, and was so impressed I ordered the full size version the same day.

Otherwise, it looks to me like you're going down quite heavily with the brush. When you load it, DO load it to the ferrule, but don't squish it about. Sweep the brush back and forth until it's loaded, then before you use it, twist the brush as you pull it back on the final sweep. This should help form the bristles into a good point.

Can't think of anything else right now except....practice! And take heart that I'm having problems making my lines look good too, and I'm sure many others are experiencing the same thing, so you're not alone in the frustration boat. Laughing

you CAN do lines with Snaz, but don't work on it while doing a full face thing like that ... work on it on your arm with white paint (washes off easiest). The consistency looks about right but you need to practice handling the brush. Twist it while loading to get a point on your brush, start moving before you touch the skin and touch down VERY gently. Practice OVER AND OVER AND OVER: tear drops, thin to thick to thin lines, and swirls. Just keep doing it.

Thanks all

I got some snaz / silly farm brushes and i added some pretty expensive (Michaels with coupons Wink ) brushes, all watercolor, i forget the name brands on them

I can do the thin / think / thin lines decently when i am just practicing them, same with teardrops .. swirls still need some work.
It seems that i run into my biggest issue when putting down a base color first..
It there a separate trick for that?

(i am going to check out those links ^^) too

to Load the brush i am trying to do the back and forth load.
Then i twist it to get a point and a ton of goopy paint comes squishing out of the brush. It picks up paint, but it seems like there is soo much paint that it fluffs up and becomes this big fat guy with no discernible tip

if your brush doesn't have a sharp tip then it doesn't matter what kind of paint you are using or what technique you have, you're not going to get sharp points on your lines. Also, be fair to yourself, painting on a practice head is HORRIBLE for getting nice lines for anyone. Practice heads are fine for laying out a design or showing an overall, but you'll never get great lines on it.
