Pashur's Class in Allen Park, Michigan
I attended Pashur's "Kick Butt Design" in Allen Park Michigan on Wednesday September 12th. I regret not signing up for one of his classes earlier. I feel I have been given a huge boost in confidence and new ways to look at designing art on the body.
Pashur himself is funny, and self-effacing. He is approachable as an instructor. He really really wanted for each of us attending to understand his step-by-step instruction. As a bonus for me... every artist understood the principals of creating teardrops. In the last workshop I attended, the attendees needed a LOT of attention and wanted to argue the merits of knowing how to do a teardrop. Here, everyone understood the teardrop, and Pashur was willing to give up his lunch minutes to devote to anyone who needed teardrop 101. I feel my teardrops improved under his watchful eye.
There were so many designs taught, I cannot count them. He ably demonstrated how to take one design, a winged heart and take it to the next level, so we could charge more. He demonstrated a Zombie Quickie (my terminology, not Pashur's) on our very own Clayton. The Zombie Quickie was simple and extremely gruesome. (It was fun watching Clayton eat his lunch looking like a Zombie ripping into his Zombie nibbles.)
The designs were extremely varied from one another. Pashur ably demonstrated the Upsell aspect of these designs. For me, Pashur gave me a springboard to jump into designing my own body art. A Hardy-esque rose was broken down into it's simplest elements and taken to a finished piece of art quickly, and skillfully. The way Pashur broke it down for us, I feel I can take another element and break it down so I can recreate another Ed Hardy type design.
The day was jam packed with new designs, and new twists on old themes. My brain hurt when I left the classroom. I am so glad I attended his class. I will attend a Pashur class in a heartbeat. (I still want to take a Tribal class).
I gave Pashur one of my collapsible Faber-Castell cups to use as a water container. I gave him the cup so he would give me an 'A' in the class, instead of actually having to do work. Pashur did not hand out any report cards, so I gave myself an 'A'. I learned a lot. Pashur gave me the gift of more confidence and a 45 second Zombie Quickie that I am sure I am going to use during my event tomorrow.
I would take a class with Pashur again anytime. My classmates were generous and excellent. I think I have made some new friends in the class.
Happy Painting!

Re: Pashur's Class in Allen Park, Michigan
That is so great to hear. I am signed up to take his tribal class with Jay Batista in Seattle in Nov. I can't wait. This will be the first "official" class I have ever taken. (although I subscribe to Fabatv and have watched their short classes on there) After watching Pashur on Faba, I had to find a class to take from him....I love his work. And then to find out that I got two for one with Jay....what a bonus. Jay's tribal designs, especially the butterflys are amazing. I just can't wait. Thanks for letting us know the classes are worth it.
As of now, I am horrible at tribals, so hopefully they can teach me a little something.
