Stickers??
Hello,
I'm still pretty new to face painting. When I started last year, I read that some face painters apply stickers to kids who are too uncomfortable with getting their faces painted. And sometimes this is used as a way to say "sorry" when their time is up and they have to go...they can hand out these stickers. When I read that, I translated "stickers" into "temporary tattoos" because the only "stickers" I could think of were the types that are meant for scrap books and paper crafting.
So with this thought, I bought a bunch of temporary tats that take a couple of minutes to apply, stay stuck for up to a week, and come off with rubbing alcohol. I have hardly used them at all because:
1. The kids who are too scared to get painted are also too scared to get a tattoo.
2. Anyone I would hand them out to wouldn't know how to use them because they don't come with instructions on the back as to how to apply them.
So I'd given up on the whole "sticker" thing, but when I was at the recent Living Canvas Convention in San Jose, one of the teachers mentioned that she put a sticker on a kids cheek when they asked for a second design. She said she did not have time to do a second painting for the kid, so she just gave her a sticker instead. I realized that she couldn't mean "temporary tattoo" because those take a little time to put on and frankly, I don't know if they would be good for the face. Anyway, I forgot to ask her what she meant by "sticker" because now I'm curious again.
So my question is this: Are there any stickers out there that are safe for the skin, will stick on the skin, and can be peeled off easily by the kid if he immediately uncomfortable with it? Something that doesn't need instructions when handing them out to kids in line?
Thanks!

Re: Stickers??
Hi Shannon!!
Thank you. I wondered that. I'll have to get a pad of them and stick 'em on me and see if they stay. I suppose they might be okay for sticking on their shirt if nothing else. Anyway, I'll wait to see if anyone else has any insight on this.

Re: Stickers??
I have stickers - I purchase from www.Smilemakers.com. I just HAND THEM the sticker. It is up to them what they want to do with it. I wouldn't apply them to the skin myself, they weren't meant for that.
I use them as party favours when I do birthday parties, and SOMETIMES, for kids who are resistant that the parents are forcing into it, instead of painting them.

Re: Stickers??
I give stickers all the time. I don't put them on their face though. Back of their hand or on their shirt.... I ask them where they want it. I generally carry with me quite a bit in my clown pockets. At the moment I have Hello Kitty, My Little Pony, Cars, Tigger and Pooh, Dora, and Tinkerbell stickers. Kids are used to getting stickers on the back of their hands, teachers do it constantly.
Re: Stickers??
I don't think that the better temp tattoos are a danger to the facial skin as long as the child is within the age range of allowable usage. Whenever I've given a child a tattoo, I send them off on their way with the tattoo application in progress. I saturate on of those cotton cosmetic pads/wafers, position the tatt and place the wet pad on the tatt to get things going. Sometimes the kids stick around in the vacinity so they can ask if the tattoo is 'ready' yet, but usually, the parent takes over the application.
My problem is that I can't keep the tatts out because of sticky fingers and so I keep forgetting that I have them or leave them at home.

Re: Stickers??
I use the water transfer temp tattoos for little children, those who want detailed cheek art, and those who miss out on face painting. The tats are safe for the face and are pre-printed with instructions on the back, so people can apply them themselves if I use them as a line ender.
