Brushes!!!! Empty Brushes!!!!

Post by Vanna664 Thu Aug 30, 2012 10:55 pm

Okay, I'm new to this and I have been using some general brushes from the craft store but I am not thrilled with them. I have agreed to help out a friend to do a charity event called Comics 4 a Cure helping to raise money for the LLS (Leukemia & Lymphoma Society), obviously I will be doing a lot of superhero work and these comic buffs will be all about detail, I would like to use some good brushes, that aren't expensive (I don't have a lot of money to spend on this since all my profits will be going to the LLS, except tips). If you guys could help a girl out, I would greatly appreciate it!

<3!
I love you

Hi Vanessa, you can get really good brushes at Michaels, Joan fabrics and AC Moore. Print out a michaels 40% or 50% off a regular priced item off the internet, michaels take AC Moore, Joan takes michaels, etc. Buy one brush at a time.

I really like the Lowe Cornell brushes. Good luck shopping.

Like Shannon said, there is a lot of info on brushes if you care to look through it. Personally, I have a lot of different brushes (Royal Majestic, Loew Cornell, Simply Simmons, Wolfe, Mark Reid, etc., etc) Every brush has a "personality". Some are awesome for flower petals but stink for linework. Most of mine are synthetics but have a couple of sables. It really comes down to personal preference, painting syle, and especially skill level IMO. A great brush won't produce great lines without practice but a crappy brush is still a crappy brush even in the hand's of a good painter. Again, my opinion.
