Do those of you who do free hand tats use a foam brush applicator or a bristle brush that you dip into a pot of adhesive? I have only done a few free hands... simple designs; hearts, shamrocks, pink ribbons.... Question

I use a white acrylic #3 brush (synthetic bristles) and 99% alcohol to clean it after each use.

I decant a squirt of adhesive into a small (lip gloss size) pot with a lid. Then dip my brushes in that.

Okay, I really want to try this too. I have seen a utube video where they were squeesing the glue right from a 2 oz bottle (not sure what kind of glue) then wait 10 min to dry and dust with glitter and sweep off wiht large makeup brush. the results are stunning with glitter and mica powder.
Here is my question...at a festival or outdoor event glitter seems to stick to everything...and the brush does not seem to brush it away. It seems the glitter sticks to the moist skin or sweat.
HOw can this be prevented?

Use a large powder brush with a touch of baby powder on it to dust off around the area.

If you are going to try free hand tats, someone had got a really good glue mix (it's the liquid and paste pros aid) that doesn't run like the liquid does. I got some and I'm REALLY happy with it.
I guess you will have to pm me if you want the address? don't want to step on toes.

I use the squeeze bottles with a screw-on tip... lots of control... it's just like drawing with a pen Smile

I use Graftobian seems really liquidy but doesnt run and I use in in 2oz bottle with screw on lids I bought for $6.95 on ebay. Lasts a long time too! Have only had these on 3 days but they still look as good as the day I put them on... Even the hearts were done freehand. I have stencils but hate brushes and glue right now... I am using tracing paper and a pen trace the design on the paper. Lay it ink side down and rub a cotton ball with some alchohol on the back of the tracing paper and boom... the ink is transferred to the skin and you have something to trace in glue. Much less waste!

Thanks Shannon, - detail question: Do you powder dust and brush before applying glue and or glittering OR after glitter applied then sweep with powderred brush?

I assume baby powder is suitable.
thanks

Aussiemarie... I believe she means applying the baby powder after the stencil and glitter process is completed. The baby powder helps to remove the excess glitter form the area that isn't actually a part of the design (spillage or "drifters")

If you're on the Face Paint Product Review board on facebook there are some really awesome photos and information there. I found it really enlightening.
