I CAN paint myself!!!
Anyone who knows me knows I can't paint my own face for the life of me. It's always wonky, cockeyed, uneven, messy and generally crappy looking.
So I really wanted to paint a sugar skull and NO ONE would let me do it.
So I did it on myself.
I know it's not perfect, and as always, the lines are way too thick because again, I CAN"T PAINT MYSELF... but I am super happy with it regardless.
YAY my first sugar skull!

Re: I CAN paint myself!!!
I think it looks lovely. I know it's harder to paint ourself. You would think as women who wear makeup we would be used it to right? Eyeliner etc...not so much. LOL I did a butterfly on myself for a benefit on Sat and I was very frustrated with myself. I make myself nervous and then my lines are shaky. Ugh!

I wanted to do another one on my daughter but she had a damn hissy fit. Grrrrr

It's beautiful! I love your swirl heart into the web, it's a unique finish for and area I've struggled with when it comes to sugar skulls. Nice shading too.
I actually do better painting my own face. Weird, I know. I alway do tiny-er details on myself.

Re: I CAN paint myself!!!
I think you did a great job melody,, sugar skulls are not the eaisest to do,,there is alot of detail work to them...and if you wear glasses like i do..I can't see close up anymore..which makes it harder...but I think you did very well...my avitar I did on my self..i had a little help with outlining the teeth from a friend of mine but i did the rest of it..
Re: I CAN paint myself!!!
It turned out great! I'm still sugar skull challenged...
I started off not being able to paint myself, but got better w/ time. Now, I'm sometimes better painting myself than others... I'm not fidgety, I don't wrinkle my nose, eyes, etc. I don't have a big smile on my face, making tiger muzzles impossible to paint. I don't look at my lap while being painted. My nose, lips & cheeks are not ticklish. I won't turn my head at the slightest sound... and... I don't hide my lips inside my mouth as soon as I start painting them

Re: I CAN paint myself!!!
The hardest part for me about painting myself is when my hand blocks one of my eyes and I lose depth perception! So I end up painting from weird angles so I can see!
