I had watched Karen Baker's class on FABAtv and noted that she mentioned when painting on darker skinned people to note the undertone of the skin. Great advice! I face painted yesterday for a friend's church-sponsored PraiseFest. 90% of kids were darker skinned. One poor child even asked me as she sat down "I'm really dark. Do you think your paints will show up good on me?" I was able to give her a hug, reassurance, and a butterfly that had a huge smile on her face! Sorry no pics 'cause the other facepainter failed to show up so I was head down and painting fast for like 5 hours and had to turn about six kids away cause they were packing up tables. Anyway, wanted to recommend a few paints that had the girls smiling with the butterflys, princess crowns, and eye designs.
All paints TAG and available at the shop here.
50 gm Neon Rainbow, Tropical Breeze, Carnival, and Pearl Unicorn
One-Stroke cakes Fantasy, Petal, Amethyst, Fantasy Rainbow, Bashful, and Pearl Unicorn.

Had a homemade split of yellow, pink, teal, and purple (TAG colors) that worked as well.

OOPS! Just saw another thread on this topic. Sorry!

One that did not work well was the Gelati. Just didn't pop like I wanted but that is what the child picked and she was happy.

If anyone else has some good suggestions, please post.

Maybe if you're having trouble using the gelati, you could use another color as a base, like white or an ivory color? I'm so glad that most face paints work on all skin colors/types, that would break my heart not being able to paint a child's face!

Child was happy with the facepaint. I just didn't feel that the Gelati did her complexion justice. Possibly because of the matte colors in it. I was just way happier with the others I mentioned.
