Short and sweet... yup. That's a corporate position alright.

I think it's time to develop a public relations dept??? I guess the ingredients list will have to do

Gee thanks, that's sure to put those parents at ease.
Think I'd print it out and take it with me. Then just tell the parents, "See they ARE eco-friendly, the Snaz man says so"

Ahhhh, good thing that you're not on his list....you would be on moderation now. My story with that is that years ago I asked Gary on a private e-mail where to find the information about the Child Toy Safety Rating, because the only place I could find the statement was on his site and on sites repeating his statement....I got a long long long response chastising me for questioning what he said. How dare I question what he had said. I belonged to his list then, and was put on Moderation immediately. Sooooo, I got off the list and have not used Snazzaroo paints or products since that day.
Now, if anyone can tell me where the paints were/are tested and who officially gave the child toy safety rating, and what it was for, whether it's for the paints or the container, I would be thrilled to read it. But, I want to read the official version from the consumers safety commission or even Consumers Reports. I'm not going to hold my breath until then, and I'm also not going to support a company who in my opinion is deceitful in their product representation.
Thanks Perry for asking the question, however the product ingredients don't support the answer you were given. I would not post his response, however, I would post the ingredients so that people can make their own decision. Don't mislead people, if they ask, simply let them know that the ingredients are listed, and you know that they are FDA COMPLIANT. (you can check the compliance of the paints by cross checking the ingredient list with the FDA approved list) Oh, and please note that the "anti bacterial" ingredient so widely claimed to be in this paint is not listed anywhere.
Just My Humble Opinion.

WHat ever do you mean? Sugar and spice and everything nice, of course!
I should know, they literally filled our garage every year I come from a family of girl scout leaders and cookie chair-WOmen, lol. Actually they still do fill the garage I just don't technically live there anymore. Every January. February? Who knows?
Anyway as for the green thing, I think it's good to be informed about ANYTHING having to do with an event you are working. But whatever you tell them, as long as you look them in the eyes, smile, and say it with confidence they'll believe you either way. Maybe you can even convince them to add Snazaroo into their organic diet.
Re: This may sound like a weird question....
Ah... don't worry all. The kids are all contaminated already from their immunizations. They are preloaded with formaldehyde, mercury, and aluminum anyway. Not to mention the 50% Mercury dental fillings they have. All of those are FDA approved too.
What's a little paint? At least you can wash THAT off.

I'm more fanatic about Aspartame than parabenes. You did not know that was possible, did you? I try to avoid it no matter what. And that is hard! It is in everything. Like vicks (if you have those? its for anti coughing.) Off all their different flavours - and there are many - you can get one with normal sugar!
I prefer to know what I am putting in my mouth and I know what sugar is. But everything that is no sugar, diet, suger-free and so on, has aspartame in it instead. Also stuff you that do not label with it like miracle wip! I really don't understand that people are feeding their children with that. Why not real sugar?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspartame
okay, back to topic: I have asked the official Snazaroo company here in DK, and he claims, that parabenes is the only way to make sure products don't have bacteria in them....
I have also asked Kryolan if they plan to make a no-perfume line, but they don't think people will buy it, since it would smell too much of chemicals instead.

Re: This may sound like a weird question....
Ah Lonewolf no aspartame? I could buy stock in any and all of the artificial sweeteners. In a small coffee I take 3 each of the pink and the blue, and put the yellow ones on fruit and stuff, and the pink in oatmeal. I used to even put it to vegetables but yeah that was just weird. Regular sugar just doesnt have the same sweetness or taste.
Just the same, I think I'd rather something that smells sort of perfume-y instead of overwhelming with a chemical smell even if it's more "natural".

Re: This may sound like a weird question....
Sweet tastes go into the brain and trigger the same receptors as alcohol. So sugar addiction is a real thing.
If I had to choose between strong chemical and strong perfume. I would chose something else. And if that wasn't an option, the one that smelled the least, since that is the one with the smallest risk of giving me a migraine.

Re: This may sound like a weird question....
There was nothing wrong with saccarine... I mean, if you eat anything in the quantity that they were feeding those poor rats who got cancer you would probably get cancer too.
I think it was the equivalent of 2000 saccarine pills PER DAY they fed those poors things...
I remember when all the saccarine was removed from things and aspartame replaced it - the taste changed. Fresca used to be good, now it isn't.
I don't use artificial sweeteners and avoid them like Lone... headaches, aftertastes... and the fact that I don't think anyone has done any longterm studies on the side-effects.
They replace sugar with aspartame and then put high fructose corn syrup into everything from cereal to crackers to chocolate milk to apple pie filling... makes SOOO much sense...

Re: This may sound like a weird question....
I'm so paranoid about sugars that I only use raw cane sugar and NEVER drink anything diet.
Did you know that Aspartame poisoning has been misdiagnosed as Multiple Sclerosis by several neurologists? So the patient with AP thinks he has MS and doesn't make moves to remove the aspartame from his diet. Meanwhile his brain continues to be effected by the steady diet of aspartame and the doctors and pharmaneutical companies get $$$ because the patient is forking it out for medication and repeat doctor visits/tests (which will reveal further degradation in the brain...but not because of the MS). I only drink water and pray that they haven't figured out a way to add chemicals to that! I've been jsut as happy without a soda.

Oh, I'm not posting what he said up... what's teh point? Yes, I will put out the ingredients list and let them make their own decisions. I will tell them however that I TRIED to find out what I could, but really wasn't having much luck. Never know, maybe one of them knows of a place to find that stuff out and they can educate me on the matter.
Re: This may sound like a weird question....
LJ, no, did not know that! Scarry
But don't they put fluoride in the water in US? There was a big article in Makeup mag som sime ago by naughty word Smith, that was very much against it.

"Naughty Word" Smith? D I C K Smith?
I grew up with flouride in the water, and had flouride treatments on my teeth (still do) when I have a cleaning at the dentist. Other than glowing in the dark I haven't noticed anything...
And LJ... how do you avoid HFCS??? It seems to be in everything?
Perry, I guess that's all you can do... I just carry the MSDS for the brands I use, and have original containers for each brand with me (I carry back-up cakes in Snaz, and have a Kryolan, Grimas and Wolfe still in their original containers that I don't put in my palette.) I have been asked about ingredients and just hand them the container to read.

Re: This may sound like a weird question....
I am very much into green and alternative living. The way i see it is most folks aren't going to get their face painted daily so the possibility of developing cancer from the parabens is probably moot. The concern should be in the minds of the artists though.
I do wonder if the paints have petroleum in them..Will have to look at the ingredient list more and try to decipher it. I think because the paints are water soluble is a good sign though. I would LOVE to know what makes them eco friendly though.
(I formerly have produced and sold my own handmade bodycare line so I am not a newbie to ingredients)
FDA compliant really means nothing btw. The FDA is a big freaking joke when it comes to cosmetics and bodycare ingredients IMHO! There are so many loopholes it's not even funny.
I am also one that definitely avoids HFCS like the plague! ick!
I am a little miffed by Gary's response myself to you Perry. I really don't find it cool at all.

Re: This may sound like a weird question....
Are there any other face paints than Grimas, that don't have Parabenes in them?
Re: This may sound like a weird question....
I eat very little processed foods...except the bag of kettle chips I'm currently shoving into my gullet...that's my weakness...kettle chips.
Breakfast, scrambled eggs and canadian bacon (somebody explain THAT one to me)..sometimes V8 juice.
Lunch, a garden or chicken salad made from chicken that I personally season and grill.
Dinner, a meat, a salad, a vegetable.
Just about all of my snacks are comprised of nuts, cheeses, and vegetables.
It's not hard to do...if you want to have a dull eating life. Every now and then I say to-heck-with-it and grab some icecream or something then I just ride the sugar rush in...

I don't know but I HAVE TRIED the Grimas Pure - black and white. And... I won't be buying anymore .... It is very hard to get a decent base with.

April, that is exactly why I started eating this way...to break a severe sugar addiction! I'm down 25lbs and have another 40 to go and I feel so much better for it!

Re: This may sound like a weird question....
Shannon,
I was tempted to get some Grimas Pure just for those situations where I get someone REALLY picky about the paints. But if you say they suck...then I guess I won't bother!!
I was hoping the bright colored ones would make decent base and colors, then just use some Wolfe Black/white over the top to do the line work...
