Painting in the park
I have a quick question. Can you face paint for tips at public parks? To get my name out in our town, I was wanting to hit up a few very trafficed parks and do some facepainting while handing out cards and fliers, but I am pretty positive I cant ask for money, but can I set up something like that and take tips? Or can I get into legal trouble for doing stuff on city or state land?

That is considered busking and MOST places would require you to get a permit. If you accept money or have a tip jar out then you are soliciting funds for service.
Parks here require city permits. Contact your local park office or city recreation department to inquire.
Even if you are FREE you may need permits.

Re: Painting in the park
I dont know about just setting up anywhere, but you bet i take my paints and paint my 'mommy' group whenever we go to the park and play. theres usually a group of 4-6 mommies and all the kids associated, so it can be rather large. if a few more kids come and parents say OK and I pass out a few cards then so be it. I wouldnt do it just to do it though unless you checked it out like she said.
