Farmers Market fees Empty Farmers Market fees

Post by pinkundies Tue Aug 02, 2011 9:42 pm

hi all!

I have been contacted to do a farmer's market celebration day. it is for a few hours and they are having live entertainment, demos, artists, etc...

My question is the fees. We havent gone over details yet but was wondering... For gigs like this, are they usually ppf? Do they pay me a flat or hourly rate? Do i kick any money back to the market organization? Just tips? Please let me know how these things work. thanks so much! Very Happy

I've never worked solely for tips. If the organizers of the Farmer's Market are contracting you that usually means they are agreeing to pay you a predetermined fee for your services.

If they are offering you a booth rental (even if it's free), than you would most likely be painting on a PPF basis and in that case they will sometimes ask for a flat fee or a combination of a flat fee + a percentage of your sales.

Hope this helps...!

Depends on the market... they may want you to be a vendor and rent a space, they may want to hire you at your rate, they may offer you a spot to do PPF....

I`ve done a local market and they hired me to paint there, and then rented out a spot to a PPF (using pastels and craft glitter!)

So... ask what they are offering OR tell them your terms.

I go to a weekly farmer's market of sorts where I pay a small booth fee and do pay-per-face.

I sounds more like they are hiring you for an event since there is a short time limit (wouldn't be worth setting up a tent for two hours IMHO.) You should get a deposit, write up a simple contract...and maybe put out a tip jar too. Smile

If they are hiring you, take it. Very Happy

I've been a vendor at our market for 3 years now. I pay them about $20/week and I do ppf/ppb ... I don't make a fortune with it, but I get tons of press and have developed a following of groupies LOL Wink
