First Farmers Market Empty First Farmers Market

Post by vegas mom Sat Aug 25, 2012 1:29 pm

Well I finally took the plunge and tried out our local Farmers Market.. What a learning expirience.. I only did 3 glitter tats the entire 5 hours. No faces. My display board stencils are ruined pretty much from the 97 heat with 60 humidity. The adhesive tape has separated and bubbled away from the stencil. (even on the ones I purchased). Need new idea.lol. Met a bunch of nice folks and was able to get some really nummy fresh fruit. I am going to re visit the "display" threads. Is it possible for stencils to get old?
I will be going back on Friday if the weather is better... Smile

For my display board I photo copy in size & category the stencils I'm offering & slip them into plastic sheet protectors. I tape those to foam board. It's quick & easy to fix & I can do it all on my printer at home.

I did my Farmer's Market last weekend since my only party was at 8:30pm. I can't wait till back-to-school is over as it's a slow season for me. I did ok... around $15/hr.... But this is a long running farmer's market (since the 1930's) & very busy. Great deals on fruits & veggies & I think I'll never buy produce at the super market again Very Happy I got a lot of business cards out & ran into a family I paint all the time Very Happy

Wow. I've never heard of that happening to the glitter tat stencils. What a bummer!! I did an all day festival on the 4th of July and it was 100* outside. I had no problems, so it must be mostly the humidity. Yuck!! So sorry! All of that work weeding!

I think they can get too old... I had some leftover stencils from a couple years ago that i recently re-discovered, and they just crackle and break very easily

It turned out to be only the ones on the display board. They were in the direct sun for most of the day. I havent even looked at them since I packed up and left. Wondering if its worth giving another shot, since Friday is going to be another 100 + day...

I'm not going to throw them away. I will use them for my new display I'm going to make, then try to use them up first, if I can get them to peel correctly. I can't count on them working, so I will have to order all new ones, but I won't chuck them until I try each one. I hate to waste them if I don't have to.
