Henna should be easy now. I'm finding the colour work and brush choice quite challenging plus so many choices of paint, equipment etc! Henna I just grab my powder mix paste and it's ready to go. Although browsing the henna forum here has inspired me to stretch myself with some new styles. I have my first face-painting gig this sat at a local fair still nervous but doing this skull has def helped me with techniques I think!

[quote="pixieface"] I also ended up with more paint on me than on my BF who so patiently let me do this to him. Wow, it's hard not to stick your fingers right in the middle of what you are painting!
lol I was about to head over to the newbie thread and ask about this. Did some practice on some kids on Halloween and my hands were coated!! Love your skull that's cool how you made it more masculine.

Re: Sugar Skull Mask
Oh my goodness! I am LOVING all of the Sugar Skull face paintings!!! I'm so sorry I haven't responded until now! My season has been so busy, yay , and along with my son's Halloween b-day, I've been quite a busy mama!
When I came on tonight, I was so excited to see all of the new things people have posted! I'm so glad I was able to introduce the whimsical beauty of the Sugar Skull to the posters who hadn't heard of it before!
Thanks again to everyone who responded to my post and took the time to share their beautiful creations!!!

Re: Sugar Skull Mask
PandoraNoir - look at those! That is fabulous - and with the color and flowers it still didn't look feminine at all. I love the variations you did between the two to keep them matching yet different. Thank you for taking the time to post - and of course to LisaJoyYoung to starting the thread (as well as all your videos that you post - I've learned so much from those!). This is definitely going to be a tradition.

Re: Sugar Skull Mask
I usually have to chose between face painting and sleep as I have a VERY busy toddler at home during the day! This skull was done between 11pm-1pm while DH was doing night shift.
Re: Sugar Skull Mask
I wanted to open this thread again!!! Love the Sugar skulls!
I did my very 1st one yesterday and this is my 1st attempt at doing hair as well.
Last touch is a sniped a sunflower from my garden. It was fun!

Re: Sugar Skull Mask
nice one! I've been keen to try my hand at one for awhile now. gotta try one soon.
Re: Sugar Skull Mask
Since I have NO jobs atm I thought I would start bumping up my portfolio specifiaclly with designs I can market for Halloween. I tried a Sugar skull a couple of weeks ago thinking that would be a fairly easy starting point- NOT! I hate it. I mean super hate it. But I'm scared a little to try again till I can identify what it is that's not working. I think it's the eye shape. Too big maybe? and definately too many petals. Also the nose is wrong- (but honestly, since it's my own face- I'm never gonna like the nose!!) It just doesn't look fancy enough. What other changes for my second attempt?
