sugar skull help!!!!!!!
Hi all I was asked to paint faces for my daughters day of the dead celebration at school. I want to do some kind of sugar skull one for boy and one for a girl I am thinking, but i only have an hour and a half to paint anywhere from 30 to 50 kids. I dont know if i should do cheek art or what. I will have one person doing the white on the face if i decided to do full face but i just dont know. Any suggestions would be wonderful thanks.

Re: sugar skull help!!!!!!!
30 to 50 kids?? make round eyes with scallops on the outside in pink for the girls, blue for boys and add a black stripe for the mouth and stitches as spaces between the teeth..maybe a swirl on the cheeks?
Re: sugar skull help!!!!!!!
i used the extra large pouncer sponge for the eye's when i did my sugar skull in last months challenge .you could load it up with 3 pretty colours and just sprits to re wet then u could get through a lot of people faster. i also used a smaller 1 for the flowers. very very quick.
Re: sugar skull help!!!!!!!
oh, pouncers area great idea for sugar skulls! Ill keep that tidbit in my mind if I ever have to paint sugar skulls. lol thanks for sharing, its very pretty
Re: sugar skull help!!!!!!!
30-50 full face sugar skulls in an hour is pretty unrealistic. Really, 30-50 anything in an hour is a challenge! I would suggest finding a stencil or stamp in the craft store and maybe embelishing that a bit. Or give the option of just one element of a sugar skull (forget the white base), like the flower eyes or teeth. Good luck!
Re: sugar skull help!!!!!!!
I completely agree with Geek... very unrealistic unless you have 2-3 person doing bases (white's a toughy if you want even coverage and adequate drying time), 2 people blocking out the eyes and a couple of people doing the linework.
The way I'd approach a request like this would be to ask what can I do in the time alotted as opposed to starting with a design concept and then pulling out my hair trying to figure out how to execute it, in mass quantity, in the time allotted. If I tried to do this, I'd be advertising nothing but my unique propensity for creating hot messes on other people's children. No thank you~

Re: sugar skull help!!!!!!!
3o quick designs in an hour would be a challage, 50 of anything would be almost imposible, that is going to be a minute a kid...with only a few seconds each for you to get them out of the chair, and a new one in. Even at 30, that is two minutes per, and still, you have to get them in and out of the chair.
You could do a pouncer skull cheek art, with just the top teeth, leave off the jaw, a really quick design, add pink bow or some glitter for the girls.

Re: sugar skull help!!!!!!!
Yes, I agree that 30 is going to be tough (especially if you afford them choices). 50 is outrageous stress.
Could the person who is offering to do the white part for you able to help paint instead?
I like the little cheek skull idea.
I also like the idea of a pouncer. If you do a large round spongy pouncer on the cheek with yellow or white/silver, and then draw a bat shape over it (like a bat flying in front of a moon), that would be pretty fast.
Good luck!!

I did a half face sugar skull. You can do half face and less details. In the search type in half face sugar skulls it should come up.
