Letter stencils?
I hate my Captain America face & my Mario & Luigi faces. Why? Because of those stupid letters. Well, I didn't hate them before Wolfe white went down the tubes, but now it runs and blends with under colors, even if they're totally dry. So I'm left shaking my fist at these designs that require white lettering (or outlining of a white letter).
I've tried doing the white lettering bits first, and painting around them but that really slows me down. I used to be able to do half faces / forehead mask thingies in 2 minutes.
I'm wondering if there are GOOD letter stencils I could use to just pounce on the white letter at the very end. It wouldn't look as crisp but maybe it would save my sanity. I think I'd even switch from the white oval letter for Mario & Luigi to just doing a white letter in the center of their hats.
Any other brilliant ideas before I tear these very popular designs off my board?

Re: Letter stencils?
For Mario, I put on the white circle. Then, I moisten a Q-tip and remove the white paint where the "M" will go in red. It works!

I use starblend bases for Mario and Luigi, too. But I will be making an A stencil for Captain America tonight. I HATE him, and he is the most requested boy design I have. Go figure.
Re: Letter stencils?
Hmm. I have red, white, and black starblends, but not any of the other colors.
@rthling, how are you going to make a stencil? Captain America is my least favorite!

Re: Letter stencils?
I used a plastic school folder and cut it with an Xacto knife. I made a set of wings for the side, too!

Re: Letter stencils?
Made the A too big and it was a fail. Gotta go back to the drawing board on that one.
Seems my big ole forehead wasn't the best template for it...
Who would have guessed?

Re: Letter stencils?
When I have done stencils...(um, hello Toronto Maple Leafs logo!) I have done a series of at least 3 graduated sizes. I did only one Maple Leaf logo, sized just for me, and it was way too large for children's faces. I made a set of 6. That was overkill. Now, I can whip off the logo quickly, due to the fact that I intimately acquainted myself with the nuances of the logo due to all that stencil cutting. I found out that I don't like cutting stencils.
