Kryolan Interferenze vs. Ben Nye Lumieres
I got some money for Christmas and I'm debating how to spend it. One possibility is the 12-color Interferenze palette, which contains all of the popular colors. Another possibility is the Ben Nye Lumieres palette, which would compliment my Starblends and be very useful during hot Tulsa summers. Or, of course, I could get the 30 color Paradise palette.
What I have already: Wolfe and DFX in large pots of basic colors; Wolfe palette with neon and metallic; Starblends; several rainbow and one-strokes.
As always, your sage advice is appreciated.

I'm no expert on Ben nye or Ifz, but you HAVE to get fab ziva blue & magenta shimmer if you don't already have them. Some people have had staining but not me. I love the fab shimmers!

Look at the thread on comparing brands. Changing Faces posted pics of both. I have the Luminere palettewhich I love as well as IF bronze which is luscious. Hard decision for you.

I am no expert either. I think you should also consider what is most important for you.
The powders are great, you can add them to any color to add intensity or use them by themselves. They are bright and feels really comfortable on the skin, specially for little kids that do not like to be painted in the eyes. They do not have odors. Great in the hot weather.
Interference I own some: Strauss Wine, Silver, Purple, Pearl. They are also great on the skin, i would use them as a base not for lines.
I found them translucent. Their smell is something that i had to get used to. They are like very light flower, not too sure which one.
As Rebons suggested Fab Ziva Blue is a great color i wish i had ordered magenta. The blue is intense, is very soft to the touch and it blends wonderfully. The smell is also strange i try to keep mine open to get rid of it and it seems it works. Being soft i am not sure how it would react on hot weather.
I think i read somewhere in one of the thread here that somebody had problems with Kryolan melting and becoming a blob.
Depending on the weather where you are if it was me i would investigate more. As Martha's suggested maybe you could find out more on that thread. Not sure i helped at all

Almost all of the interferenze line is absolutely gorgeous and very, very translucent. It's absolutely beautiful as a shimmery base to layer over or under other colors.
What is your primary market? If it's little kids who want bold masks, then I wouldn't (personally) go for the whole Interferenze palette. My exception is the Interferenze bronze, it's like a rich liquid molten gold.

Bronze is much more opaque than the blue IF that I have. Truly a beautiful color.

I think right now my target market is kids, or at least events where kids will be my primary customers. Many of those events are outdoors in the warm weather. I've been eyeing the Fab palette, but I'm not sure how practical it will be in our overwhelming heat.
At this point, I'm thinking the Lumieres. It's just so hard because I want it all!

Re: Kryolan Interferenze vs. Ben Nye Lumieres
I absolutely love the IF! A lot of the theme parks in Florida (hot, steamy, hot weather) use Kryolan. The IF line is great and you could mix in a few other colors on the pallet. It is great for the heat and doesn't melt at all. FAB melts like crazy in the case during the heat, at least my experience. Still worth it as the colors and metallic line are absolutely great. I really like the Nye line as well but those I know that have it don't use it nearly as much as they thought they would. I would really lean toward Kryolan but I love them, aside from the smell. The not melting in hot weather is great though!

Jenny,
I was wrangling with the very same desicion, and decided to try 2 IF, I ordered the GB, which painters here have said is the old bach blue, and the bronze, then I will see how I like them, and then see if I want to try Ben Nye instead.
there is by the way an old thread comparing paint brands side by side

Okay so my camera and fluorescent lighting do not do the shine or color of this paint justice but I hope you get an idea of the coverage. Here is the link to the page where ChangingFaces has all the IF and Luminere swatches. The IF bronze is about midway down her arm.

Here is Cameleon Steampunk closest to my elbow then IF bronze and IF GB (must be a new formulation but not Bach Blue. Straight from Shannon's mouth cause I sent her a smidge to compare to her Bach blue)
Not the easiest paint to do lines with but does make nice accent dots.
The Steampunk isn't as shiny and color is a bit darker but a nice metallic sheen. The IF Bronze really does look like molten gold ... sorry I couldn't get a better pic.

Re: Kryolan Interferenze vs. Ben Nye Lumieres
that was the thread I was looking for, so its not the same then huh? Well, if Shannon said so it must be true,, hehe
Re: Kryolan Interferenze vs. Ben Nye Lumieres
Still a gorgeous color. (Shannon said so ...actually to quote her she said that it was greener and a bit flatter than the Bach blue. That must be a beautiful blue for sure!)
