Can you get a bad batch? (Wolfe white)
A couple months ago, before I discovered the forum shop, I bought a Wolfe white from a seller on Amazon. When I started to use it, I discovered teeny blue bits of something in it, like grains of rice only about 1/8 size. Being a complete newbie, I thought it was just how the paint came and picked them out. Now, I've been noticing that the white doesn't cover as well as it did at first.
The paint has not been, to my knowledge, exposed to extreme heat, cold, or weird chemicals. The bits were not from glitter, a sponge, or the surface of someone's skin. They were very light blue and stuck in the paint, I had to dig them out.
I'm wondering if this is old paint that had some kind of crystalization. Or maybe it's a counterfeit batch -- I know one of the other manufacturers had a problem with counterfeiters last year. Has anyone else had this experience?

Re: Can you get a bad batch? (Wolfe white)
I have never had funky Wolfe...but you could contact the seller...
Re: Can you get a bad batch? (Wolfe white)
Did it have the Wolfe "eye" stamped into the paint on top when you first opened it?
Re: Can you get a bad batch? (Wolfe white)
Are you cleaning your cake with wipes? I stopped doing that when I thought the paint was grainy but it would clean up in water...it was the fuzzies from my high-end wipes.
As far as the coverage...do you have some old Wolfe to compare it to? It was Dfx that was having the counterfeiting problems but that doesn't mean you didn't get "Wolf" brand that I've seen crop up at Halloween and they have some kits.
So they are putting a stamp on it now? Didn't know that.

Some do, some don't. I've ordered black and white recently from the same supplier and one had the eye and the other didn't. Is it a new thing?
Re: Can you get a bad batch? (Wolfe white)
There was no eye on this. Denise, I have used wipes on it and I guess the chemicals of the wipe could be affecting the opacity. I'm about ready to order a new one anyway, so I might just speed up that process.

I've had issues with a bad batch of Wolf before (think goopy mess), but NOTHING like you are describing.
Re: Can you get a bad batch? (Wolfe white)
My black and white both had the eye when I received them. Can't post piccies now though, of course - they're long gone! :-D

Re: Can you get a bad batch? (Wolfe white)
My last several 90 grams of both black and whit had the eye stamped on them...
I, too, advise you to never clean your paints with baby wipes or any kind of wipes. I either clean them by running a clean damp sponge over them or actually standing at the sink with running water (and clean hands) and wipe them with my fingers... sometimes that's the only way to get fuzz and other stuff out of them.

I just happen to have a new Wolf black and white with the eye. You can see the black better, probably because of my questionable photography skills.

Re: Can you get a bad batch? (Wolfe white)
I think it is pretty new... within the last few months or so... I know Metina sends out the 'eyeball ones'

Re: Can you get a bad batch? (Wolfe white)
Ahh, gotcha. I just tried to order a 90g black yesterday but they're not in stock, any idea when they'll be back in?
Re: Can you get a bad batch? (Wolfe white)
Hm, I've ordered 2 Wolfe's whites in July and one just in November, and didn't have any stamped eyes on them. Mine were probably from the older batch, no complaints though, they work perfect.
Re: Can you get a bad batch? (Wolfe white)
I have a tag white with a few "grains" in it too---I figured it was just a mistake and tiat it was normal--I will see if I can take a picture of my "grain" since it is still some what buried in my paints!

I got a Wolfe white 90g today, with no eye. I wish the manufacturer would tell us what's going on with that.

Re: Can you get a bad batch? (Wolfe white)
I bought a white and black 30gram wolfe from the fpf shop in September and they both had the eye on them!
Re: Can you get a bad batch? (Wolfe white)
Bought Black and White 90g from Silly Farm a few weeks ago and they were both stamped to...hmmmm. That is strange.
Re: Can you get a bad batch? (Wolfe white)
Well the stamp is not really big mystery. When Wolfe mad some changes at factory level and made some special colors as spec colors to test and try, they added their wolf eye logo as an imprint on some of the cakes. Many but not all cakes coming from Wolfe to your reseller have stamps. If it does have a wolf eye the cake was made after April 2012.
Re: Can you get a bad batch? (Wolfe white)
I looked at the bottom of my 90g and the label looks like all my other Wolfe paints, including saying it's made in Taiwan. But on the actual plastic bottom, it says "Made in China 2012 02 15".
I ordered this from a vendor on Amazon (I had a gift card) and, needless to say I'm not thrilled with it being a year old. But is real Wolfe paint even made in China?
