Re: 1st free hand glitter tattoo
I am also hooked on doing freehand tats and I am able to get really good control of the thickness of my lines. Took some practice but I really like the freedom to create what I want.
I'll post a pic of it.
Ok here is the pic

Re: 1st free hand glitter tattoo
This was done with no stencil or no tracing transfer, and with a glue bottle and metal tip. I plan on doing more this week for advertisement purposes for my website.

Screw on or push on tips?
I prefer the screw-ons as I had too many of the push-on tips/ bottles 'pop' on me/ my models....
Much nicer/ easier to use & clean as well;)

Re: 1st free hand glitter tattoo
Barb, did you use a brush? Those look like brush strokes, is the brush useless now or did it clean out well? Love the line work!
Re: 1st free hand glitter tattoo
Yes I used a brush and used 99 % alchol to get the glue out of the brush..
it was an old brush..i order some bottles with tips off ebay..i may try to do it that way too.. I also did not use a stecil on these just used the brush like i was painting lol.. mine was a day old when i took the pic..with my grandbaby thats why hers looks better lol
nice job Tamara on your tattoo..
cat where can you get those kind of screw on bottle and tips..

Re: 1st free hand glitter tattoo
I sell them from my bodywww but I think people on here are looking into them on ebay if we can work out what size the US ones are - I only sell the tip sizes I know that work (tested them all) but from links posted the USA ones look to be diff colours....

Re: 1st free hand glitter tattoo
Here is another one I did. I did both of these with a jac bottle and metal tip I already had. I also saw some on ebay I am going to get to do theses and use with doing henna.
Re: 1st free hand glitter tattoo
Yes the jacq bottles are what I used to use but refillingthem is a faff anf I twice had 2 diff bottles pop open and explode glue all over - once in front of a full demo/jam room:(
So do look for the screw-on ones if you can, some USA henna shops sell them i expect easier to refill and safer:)

Re: 1st free hand glitter tattoo
Barb I like the swirls on the purple butterfly, that is a nice job especially with a brush. I think you will like using the bottle as well for adding even more detail with your designs.
Re: 1st free hand glitter tattoo
I just got my bottles and tips in and tried a couple of quick designs...
one in glitter and one in gold mica powder... I'm afraid the pics aren't very good..... cannot figure out for the life of me how to get good pics of glitter! I think they look much better in person- especially the gold mica powder. It looks so delicate!
This is so much fun! I think I've found a new obsession!

Re: 1st free hand glitter tattoo
I did another one, each time pushing the creativity and control of the glue placement / disbursement. It's going to be great to be able to replicate henna designs with the glitter tats for girls who aren't old enough to get a henna tattoo.
Re: 1st free hand glitter tattoo
Oh, that gold is incredible...I think you might have found a new obsession for many of us. Never thought to use a bottle with tip, didn't like doing the bursh and even with 99% alcohol I had trouble getting the brushes clean. Yet I have a friend in the Netherlands that has used free hand brushing for years. Wondering if Suzy Sparkles glitter gel bottles would work???
Re: 1st free hand glitter tattoo
How long those tattoos lasted?
How much can we charge for something like that?
IMO I prefer to do it with a brush, lines are flat so the glue dry quicker and tattoo last longer, I made one on myself with a tip, lines had volume so took 10 minutes drying and only last overnight, the glue cleaned out of my hand just rubbing it.
I don't imagen doing a tattoo like that with a 50 kids waiting in line, while you do one free hand tattoo you can paint 3 full faces or do 4 stencil glitter tattoos.

Re: 1st free hand glitter tattoo
How are you applying the glitter...with brush or bottle? I've done both with tatts and perfer bottle but these look like I'd have to use brush. Are you letting the glue dry clear...seem to be reading different reports from different companies. I Believe Faketoos says to apply glitter to wet glue. I'm getting confused...or maybe just born that way.
So great to have a place like this to sort it all out! Think I need to order bottles from cat.uk

Re: 1st free hand glitter tattoo
Mostly I found most glues need to be dry or the glitter sinks in AND the glue won't dry as well. Plus you wreck the design if yo try to brush off/ press down the glitter on wet glues....

Re: 1st free hand glitter tattoo
Luz you are probably applying too much glue. Mine last several days and don't take that much longer to dry than doing it the traditional way of brushing it on.
You never apply the glitter to wet glue. You have to wait for the glue to get tacky but definitely should not be wet wear you could still smear it.
It takes less time to do a free hand with a bottle than with a brush. the 2 that I just posted are as thin as a regular tat and have not rubbed off at all.
When I first started doing them, I did experience that problem and knew immediately that it was the amount of glue that had been applied. As with anything it takes practice to achieve better control in glue application, line control, and details.
I look forward to adding it to my offerings, the kids will really go for it.

Re: 1st free hand glitter tattoo
I did this one last night with the bottles and tips and mineral eye shadow. Today I was in town and everybody I came in contact with asked if it was a tattoo, so it definitely looks real! Now my daughter, who hates the feel of face painting and glitter tattoos, wants me to do this for her, since it looks so real LOL!
