What would Shannon Think...LOL
I really did bight off more than I was ready for yesterday. I painted a belly in the morning, then went to a baby shower to paint another belly and little faces that were there, then a big ole birthday party in the evening. Now keep in mind...last year was my first year doing this as a business and I have much to learn. I know, for so many of you, it is common to have 3 bookings on a Saturday but NEVER for me yet. This was the first time I had real multiple bookings in a day.
So at 10 till 7pm I arrive at this party and it was crazy but happy chaos! It was a large Indian family and the party was in full swing when I got there cause it started at 6 I was to start at 7. The kids were crawling on my legs I was constantly getting crowded and saying please stand back, even got bapped in the head a few times with balloon animals. They payed me to stay a half hour longer cause the kids were loving the painting even though I felt like I was not at my best, thank the Lord for Linda's Dragon Tutorial, once I whipped those out, the boys were real happy and the parents thought I was terrific,LOL. Anyway, My brushes were everywhere, I allowed my paints to get scattered about and my water was crappy,my table looked crazy and then it popped into my mind..."What in the world would Shannon Think!" LOL I am serious. I really had that moment. If she or many of you could have seen me and my table you would have kicked me square in the butt! So I took a moment to regroup, clean my water, straighten my table.
So I learned, again, not to play the speed game, I can only paint the amount that I can paint well. I also learned again...position my table and chairs in a way that I can't be crowded and I won't get bapped or crawled on! And I also realized that I have way to many senior moments and need to really be prepared and practiced up on designs. The birthday boy wanted me to paint him as the pink Power Ranger ....Thankfully they had a plate with a picture. So, I guess I also learned...ask if there is a theme, cause I had to paint 3 Power Ranger like dudes, and I was clueless!
Thank you to Metina for this forum and to all of you wonderful artists that go with me now when I paint!

Sometimes it's not about the painting quality, it's about having fun and making happy memories ...better a gazillion happy kiddos than one Rembrandt...and it sounds like you succeeded!
Re: What would Shannon Think...LOL
When I was a little girl, there were stories in Bible School that would ask the question...
"What Would Jesus Do?"
And then we were supposed to think of the correct answer to the WWJD question.
Now, when I get messy, disorganized, bapped in the head by unruly children wielding balloons...I will stop and ask myself...
WWSFD?

Congratulations on a fun packed day (and on keeping your cool with things and kids flying everywhere )
My station's also a mess when I'm in the midst of bedlum - hard to have it otherwise when there's no break and kids are leaping into the chair even before the first child is out

I'm not sure about the angel part
LOL!
I'm glad you got to have your 1st of hopefully many 3 gig days! I've had water nightmares before where I don't have time to change it & I realize the consistency may be getting to be as thick as my paints
I've also had the nightmare, mass kid parties. The dragon tattoo was created out of a party where it was all Indian children & huge. It was late 9:00pm starting time (I still don't understand this, but it's very cultural to Indian families). Not one parent wanted their child's face painted, not even the birthday child's?! I'm thinking... "Why'd you hire me & what am I going to do??!!! Two hours of nothing?!" I started painting arms & the dragon was born
I'm glad the dragon was a hit & rescued you!

Wow, Perry 9 jobs!! Wow! I would have been a mess for sure. And Linda, I truly painted very few full faces, I mean like 3 and they were boys. That is why I was soooo thankful for that dragon. Most of the little girls all had a small jewel on their head, maybe it was because of religious reasons they didn't want the whole face? They would let me do the cheek however. The late night thing is definitely cultural, My hubby has done mission trips to India and we have had a couple of ministers stay with us from that country and they are just getting started at 9 and we are ready to get ready for bed,LOL.
