Japanese Tattoo Series! Octopus! The pro shots came!

Pro shots came in!








Aj is such a willing spirit! Meibukan Goju Karate Winnipeg were so kind and accommodating by allowing us to shoot on location!! The classes were gracious and just carried on thier moves while President and Chief Instructor (Sensei) Kim Marshall assisted Aj in ensuring that the poses and weapons were completely authentic! I'm sure Aj had VERY sore thighs the next day and some of those poses were deceptively hard! I'm so happy to be able to share them today...AND a teaser.....did the next one in the series...a phoenix! Those pro shots will hopefully be in next week. Have the Ice queen shoot on the 13th and the foo dog on the 15th. You guys will be the first to know!

Turned out great. I love the dojo as the backdrop, very creative. Did they do any in black and white, I would love to see that! I can't wait for the rest!

Oh my..... Your Talent is AMAZING! The detail, hightlighting and placement of everything - excellent. I wouldn't want to wash it off - ever!!I just adore the teaser shot of the phoenix - can't wait to see more of that! Congratulations on such a wonderful job!

Amazing - love the depth/'weight' you achieved on the octopus (does that make sense? I mean the 'substance' of it - it looks 'weighty' in a tangible way) and the eye especially What was the subject you were expressing?

@helena - Thank you and it's not so much of an expression, as it is my 'take' on traditonal Japanese tattoo themes with a more modern 'Tattoo' style. right now in the tattoo industry there are always several 'hot' fashion things going on. The last couple of years, the 'hot topics' are sugar skulls/day of the dead and Asian influenced pieces (both East and South Asian). The weight is all about shading which I am still learning and am hoping to 'bump up a notch' when I teach in Las Vegas in march as Dutch B. will be there and I'm telling ya...front row in all HIS classes will be me!! I cannot count how many painters inspire me, but he is in my top 5 to be sure!!!

LOL He *IS* Flynn! And he is that funny too just like the 'toon! If I ever get to the point where I can be 'big' enough to bring my own model, I'll have to bring him along!! I think that will be unlikely ever, BUT sure would be fun!

OH-MY-GOD! I could spend hours staring at Dutch's designs. Amazing wrinkles and veins.! And his shadings!!! I wish I could be at Las Vegas ... Anyway, enjoy your classes and PLEASE, share here all what you learn (Looking forward what will come out from your talent and his teachings)
As for AJ-Flynn, love the pics: it's not just the gesture/face but the hair (that lock falling over the forehead), eyebrows, mouth,... LOL!

I cant say I have tired of him yet but am mildly disturbed when I recognized it was him on the first time you had shown us the octopus even though his head was cut off

@Pilareta - He is REALLY the living Flynn! I told him and the photographer that then went online and found the picture! The 'smoulder' Aj did was a 'joke' shot but he coud have been the model for the cartoon!!

@Jolene - Glad to hear it! Especially since I don't yet have a 'second'!! And I think at this point it's almost a sure bet that if you see a half naked young man in my photos, it's gonna be him so I wouldn't be disturbed! Sure it's just that your brain puts one and one together. Either that or I'll get you a signed autograph!! LOL Seriously tho... you will see more of him again on the 27th, he'll be getting a full back samauri! (sp)
