Approaching a local institution about being a permenant vendor?
I have a zoo locally that I would like to approach about being a permenant vendor. Does anyone have experience with having a daily face painting booth within someone's already established business?
Thanks!
Thanks!

No but, if you find out - or get any experience with that - let us know!

Are you looking to be hired or charge per face? I am sure there are different ways to go about both, but I would aggressively pursue either. Regular work is fab, even if at a lower rate.
One thing I was going to suggest to the board is seeking out those that offering children's party packages. I have partnered with an Animal Park and Indoor Play area. They add face painting as an add on to the party and I give them 20% back.
Have you had any contact with them at all? I would send them samples of your animal work and stress what fabulous marketing photos your work at the park could be.

Over here a lot of these things are run by local government and they mostly use a tendering process for suppliers to submit to. It stops people giving contracts to people for the wrong reasons. It really can be a lot of work! I don't know how things are done in the US.
Not much use really but I thought you might like to know

A promotion company is looking for vendors, they told me they have fairs monthly and they don't have face painters yet and they like to have exclusive vendors (two face painters in the same fair not gonna happen w/ them). They're asking for $50 for the booth....is that worth it?

Most of the theme parks here have face painters who basically pay rent and are paid per face. Make sure you already have liability insurance in place, and present yourself as a professional. Show them you have insurance, MSDS sheets, etc....

But do I need to get a business license or stuff like that? Or insurance, MSDS sheets are enough for that...

You would need to get a business license. You may wish to speak to an accountant and/or lawyer about the idea of incorporating as well. This way, if there ever was an issue, people would not be able to come after YOU but rather the business.

Get insurance. MSDS sheets are not insurance.
