Your 1st Time Being Facepainted! Do you remember?
Hey Guys! I just wanted to share photos of my 1st time every being face painted.
I think it was my only time actually. There just aren't many that do it. And from what I've seen none do it to the quality that I intend to put out in my business. So do you guys remember the 1st time you ever got face painted and/or have there always been face painters around in your area?

I was about 10 at a festival in upstate NY. There was a Mime performing there who did mime and clown faces in between his sets. I got the mime face... LOVED IT. My parents were vendors at the festival, so I was there every day- I Drove the poor mime NUTS becaue when you are 10- Mimes are cool!
Re: Your 1st Time Being Facepainted! Do you remember?
Until I attended a workshop in October last year, I had never been painted. Took me 38 years, lol. I do remember applying make up to my mum in a 'fantasy' style when I was about 8 or 9 though. And she did the same for me. Don't think there's any photos. I'm not sure it was very good!

Oh I was so into playing with my mom's one eyeshadow palette that she had. All the colors were in the shape of a peacock's "spread". 38 years wow. That just goes to show it's never too late for anything.Fun2Play wrote:Until I attended a workshop in October last year, I had never been painted. Took me 38 years, lol. Re: Your 1st Time Being Facepainted! Do you remember?
Yes, last year at 53 lol! Face painting was unheard of when I was a kid. My parents would never have spent money on it anyway.

Re: Your 1st Time Being Facepainted! Do you remember?
My mom painted me with dollar store face paints for Halloween as a witch when I was... 4 or 5 maybe? I was ADORABLE.
Re: Your 1st Time Being Facepainted! Do you remember?
I was painted in Las Vegas in 2006?? I think it was?? At a henna conference, and the next time was by either Brian or Nick this past year! I seem to be way more interested in putting it on someone than getting some!! LOL
Re: Your 1st Time Being Facepainted! Do you remember?
My mom used to paint a nose and whiskers on me with her eyebrow makeup. (for Halloween, I think. Maybe a cat...)
Then in 2010, at Disney World, I was painted and fell in love with it. That painting is why I paint faces today.
Pictured with my niece:

@rthlin: That's an awesome story. I've seen a few YouTube videos of the Disney face painters. Boy are they fast.

Re: Your 1st Time Being Facepainted! Do you remember?
I vaguely remember the art teacher in school painting my face green and putting on a fake witch nose for halloween. I think I may have even got in the newspaper's front page posed with some other kids and a giant pumpkin. Doubt I can find that clipping.PerfectlyPaintedFaces wrote:My mom painted me with dollar store face paints for Halloween as a witch when I was... 4 or 5 maybe? I was ADORABLE.

Re: Your 1st Time Being Facepainted! Do you remember?
My first time having my face painted was when I was 3 or 4 at Seaport Village in San Diego. I have 3 pictures...this isn't the best one (I can't find the best one at the moment), but it'll have to do-
If you click on the pic it should allow you to see it full size.

Re: Your 1st Time Being Facepainted! Do you remember?
When I was face painting my oldest daughter when she was about 4 years old, she asked me what I had my face painted as when I was a little girl. I told her, "I never got my face painted when I was a little girl." Madison said, "I though that in dinosaur times, you got your whole FACE AND BODY painted." I said, "I was NOT born in dinosaur times."
Nobody has ever painted me except myself.

My mom started her clown company when I was three...so I'm guessing I was three, lol
Re: Your 1st Time Being Facepainted! Do you remember?
I was in Girl Scouts and we had a table at Metro North Mall to make money for a trip and get our art badge. I hate to say we used acrylics but this was the 70's I was 9 and we painted each other then painted anyone that donated money. Even then with just simple cheek art I found myself busier than the other Scouts. The first time my Daughter got painted I was already painting at the theme park so I painted her she was 4. If anybody says the first time they got painted was at Silver Dollar City let me give you a big virtual hug.
Re: Your 1st Time Being Facepainted! Do you remember?
Probably not the actual first time being painted but pretty close...fairly certain it is Mehron grease paint. That is my mom painting me and I'm about 3 years old
Re: Your 1st Time Being Facepainted! Do you remember?
All the pictures are so cute!
I had a little daisy painted on my cheek when I was in elementary school at a school event by a teacher. I wasn't very good, but I liked it anyway.

Re: Your 1st Time Being Facepainted! Do you remember?
I think the only time was when I was mentoring someone and let them paint me as I explained a technique. funny to think that MOST kids these days have had their faces painted, but most of us never did.

Re: Your 1st Time Being Facepainted! Do you remember?
Some fun name-droppin' here (from someone who's not really a name-droppin' type of gal ... ):
Very first face "painting": This November, when I let my friend's 7-year-old son have a swipe and a go at me with a paintbrush and tube of fake blood after he patiently sat as my model through three Christmas faces. It was a charming disaster! Name drop: Ryan! (famous in our school and to his mom and dad! )
Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth: Last week, at the East Coast Face Painting Convention: Brian Wolfe, Pasher, Kerri Ann Smith, Alison Kenyon. Charming and NOT disastrous!
Still, my most favorite among these famous folks is Ryan. We have an appointment in two weeks for more merriment. He doesn't know yet that I purchased my first FX kit and that this time, I will be pouring the blood on him.
(He will be extremely delighted!)
And P.S.: I am 49, and also spent a childhood where face painting was unheard of. When Brian did my first "real" face painting last week, I found the experience surprisingly relaxing, and the wet brushes and sponge very soothing. He put a blue octopus on me. Someday, if I ever figure out how to do pictures here, I'll post it. It was .... wolfishly incredible!!!
