Re: Where's Punky?
Thank you Ashley. I wanted to practice on my boys that day and they wouldn't have it ,so I got to be the lizard! LOL
Re: Where's Punky?
Remember, She had some big changes going on. Moving away from home for an externship, and going double-time on school. I think she's just been busy with an exciting new life. Go Punky!
Re: Where's Punky?
Yeah, Sophie, I remember. Hope she is doing great. Maybe she will come back to the forum for a visit soon.
Re: Where's Punky?
I was wondering the same thing.
How about Melinda, I remember she was pregnant, anyone knows how she is doing?

Re: Where's Punky?
I'll message her on facebook... she's still posting on there, maybe just hasn't had much time for face painting stuff.
Re: Where's Punky?
Melinda is good, we see eachother sometimes. Not really painting as she went to school in the fall and has two little girls already. I think she is starting to paint more lately but is teaching spanish somewhere so doesn't have a ton of time. Hasn't had the baby yet, I think she is due in May or something - supposed to be a boy.
Re: Where's Punky?
Thank you Lorrin, I am glad she is doing good. She is having a boy! YAY!!!!
Tell her hi for me next time you see her please

Re: Where's Punky?
I will, she is super scared about a boy too! I have two so she was quizzing me about all the details. She is excited, just overwhelmed!
Re: Where's Punky?
Wow, I had no idea I’d be missed so much! Hey everyone! Well, Perry did contact me on facebook, and since I have that connected to my phone I get updates and can update my status from my phone, since I haven’t had decent internet in a long time (part of the reason I haven’t been online). I am at a friend’s house using her internet right now so I can talk to y’all.
Well, as Geekophile said, I had moved out of the house to Sturgis, MI for my externships. I have since graduated at the top of my class but still remain unemployed. I managed to hold down a job at Walmart (which I hated) until my lease ran out. When time came to renew my lease, I found out the apartment complex was going to raise my rent by over $100 per month, and seeing as I was barely making by each month even with help from my parents, I just couldn’t swing that, so I have moved back home. I’ve gone back to subbing in the local schools until I can find a job in a hospital. I’ve applied at over 50 hospitals and clinics over the Indiana and Michigan area, but still no dice.
As far as painting goes, I haven’t done much since all this has happened. I did do a couple events for my apartment complex, for which they took $100 of my rent for each event, which I really appreciated. I came home a couple times to help mom with a couple of gigs she booked and to help her at the pumpkin patch she landed a painting contract with this past fall. I have no new pictures to add as my camera died just after the 4th of July this past year… HOWEVER I did just get a new camera as a late Christmas gift from my parents. It’s a Cannon SX40 HS, and I love it! Next week I’m flying down to Orlando, Florida as the other half of my Christmas present… my parents are taking my to Universal Studios to see the Harry Potter village, lol. I’m meeting them down there as they just boarded a cruise ship for an 8 day cruise this morning.
I did find out not long ago that I’ve been asked to teach a face painting class at the 2012 Midwest Clown Association convention. Now, I did teach at this convention 2 years ago, but that was because my alley was one of the hosting alleys, so I had an in with them. I don’t think I’d have been asked if I weren’t a member of that alley, as most people don’t want a teenager teaching an intermediate/advanced class at a function like that. But this time, My alley is NOT hosting it, I’ve been asked simply because I apparently was a success 2 years ago. I’ve also heard through the grapevine that I am going to be asked to teach face painting at the Clown Forum Spring Fling this March.
Anyway, that’s about it as far as what I’ve been up to.

Re: Where's Punky?
Hey, great to hear from you again, Punky. You sure have been a busy lady. Hope you find the job that you need real soon. Have fun with your family at Universal. I've never been but it looks like it would be amazing.
That is awesome that you will be teaching a painting class again. You must have done a super job the first time around. Hope to see you around the forum again soon.

Re: Where's Punky?
Welcome back, Tilly! It's a shame about your apartment and about the job search (I know, I've been actively seeking steady employment since I returned from Florida), but it's good to hear you'll be teaching a painting class Best of luck to you!
Re: Where's Punky?
Punky girl!!!!!!! Welcome back sweet lady
Glad to see you, you are a go getter so I am pretty sure that perfect job you deserve will land right on your lap really soon.
How was Universal? Hope you had a great time with your parents.

Re: Where's Punky?
OMG Universal studios was great! I really only had 2 things on my list to do there: Buy a wand of my own and try butterbeer. We seriously could have left the park after that and I'd have been thrilled. BUT we stayed and went for 2 days, saw "almost" everything. It was awesome!
I do have to admit, I'm guilty of seeking out the face painters and just standing back and watching them for a bit. I don't know why I'm so fascinated by watching other face painters paint especially in BIG parks like that. But I had to hand it to the lady I stopped and talked to, she had a lot of talent for just being thrown into that job one day with next to no related expirience.
What fascinated me the most what what the customers sat in while they were painted... Well.. it was more of a BED. a bed with the top half raised about a foot so that the customer was laying down with the head elevated right to the perfect height for the artist. I was jealous, that bed looked really comfy too, lol. But, I had to think how I could not work that way. I love my directors chair and how I can walk all around it, which saves my back a lot of pain.
Anyway, I definately want to go back someday, but with someone who will ride the bigger roller coasters with me... my parents do like going upside down, and I didn't want to make them wait for me while I went alone.

Re: Where's Punky?
When I sold merchandise at Disney World, I got a chance to talk to some of the face painters there and they seemed to enjoy their job, but I've been told by artists who have moved on to bigger and better things that the companies used by the major theme parks prefer painters with no experience at all! How is that fair?
