My first attempt - constructive criticism please!
Hey!
I decided the other day to give face painting a try. I finally got my hands on some Montmarte paint and made some of my own split cakes. Here are the results:
I know that I need to practise getting the linework neat, and also getting the leaves to tuck in behind the flower properly. Any tips?

very pretty!
Love the shading and dots
I've not heard of montmarte paint before. I googled it, but couldn't find it, where do you get it?

Mont marte is retailed here in Australia through art/craft stores and also a few discount stores as well.

It's sold in a small round cake... similar to TAG except for smaller. Anyway, I needed to replace my red and didn't want to place another order online right now (too tempting to overspend and get this and that, etc), so I bought a montmarte red for under $5 at the local discount store. I cross checked the ingredients against my TAG cakes and they were IDENTICAL.
So I bought a gold as well. Coverage and colours are comparable to TAG. The advantage is that they are readily available locally, no postage/shipping etc, however, per gram I think they work out to be a little more expensive than TAG, but not by a lot.
Nice to see Firefly has been able to split them with great effect

Re: My first attempt - constructive criticism please!
Thanks so much everyone! I am liking the Montmarte paints though I don't have anything to compare them to. I must admit I can't get the black to work very well at all. It's much more damp straight out of the packet and just doesn't seem to have good coverage, but I think I probably just need more practice. I've been going through the split cake challenge thread for ideas. I think I'm hooked!

Looks good, nice and clean with vibrant color and good coverage. My only critique is to vary the size of your dots as it's more visually interesting.
Re: My first attempt - constructive criticism please!
...and this is the 1st time you are painting???? I think it looks wonderful!
Re: My first attempt - constructive criticism please!
I think your work is beautiful. If you want to fill in any "gaps" in the design you might try adding some swirling tendrils of green. Just a suggestion not an implication that you need anything.
