Face Painting Goals for 2012!
Ok. This is our 4th year doing a goal thread for the upcoming year! I have bumped the last three years to see if you can find yours or read through others. Did you make it, exceed it or come up short?
It looks like I didn't come up with a goal for 2011, but I feel like I made some progress. I will think about my goals for my face painting business and post later. Can't wait to see yours!

Without too much thought (I didn't even post my 2011 goals since I spent too much time thinking, then forgot to post!:
*I had to start adding tax this year (yay/boo!) so while the ultimate goal is Make More Money, I first want to have the tax (12%, BTW. Ridiculous.) not affect my bottom line - I don't want to have to lower my rate because the tax is making the price unreasonable, kwim?
*Get tax ID #
*Continue adding boy designs.
*Put together an email newsletter for my mailing list that isn't an email, but a proper e-newsletter.
*Get a business credit card!
*Get my speed back up. I feel like I was super fast before, and while I'm not SLOW now, I know my speed has dropped (from the parties where there's fewer than my max kids, so I have the luxury of more time - however, too many of those and I realised that it's slowed me down overall...)
*Work on my masks
*Update my website and expand on the "Services" section(s)
*Figure out when/where I will be offering glitter tattoos
*Practice free-hand glitter tattoos
*Hire a book keeper!! and get my taxes in on TIME.
I'm sure I'll think of more as I go along...

Re: Face Painting Goals for 2012!
I wrote them down, but I think they are upstairs... I'll try to remember the main ones:
1) increase my income (after expenses) by another $1500
2) add puppets to my performances
3) add 2 or 3 more songs/games to my shows
4) increase bookings of stage shows
Ok, so they aren't really face painting goals so much this year, but business goals nonetheless. I am attending Mooseburger Camp again this year, so I may add a few more things once I find out the full schedule of classes there. And I'm thinking about going to another Wolfe Bros. workshop this winter since they are coming back to Toronto again... that was the best workshop ever when I took it last year.

Re: Face Painting Goals for 2012!
1) Be more entertaining while face painting
2) Find a way to use the face paints I have that I don't like.
3) Keep better records.
4) Update my site with more current face painting photos. (The ones on there are from two years ago)
Perry: May I suggest that if you do get to add a puppet, dog arm puppet (David Ginn or Practical Magic) is awesome. It comes with a CD of examples and is not too terribly expensive.

Re: Face Painting Goals for 2012!
I"m getting a cow puppet that I am naming "Erd" .... (ok I'll spell it out... he's my little "cow - erd") and I'm taking my main course at Mooseburger Camp this summer in puppetry. But thanks for the thoughts

2012
1. Again, increase total earnings year over year.
2. Get the book finished... haven`t done much with it over the last year. Have to spend a lot of time doing photo editing and layouts as the text is all done.
3. Continue promoting and securing adult based gigs - galas, meet & greets, club work, body paint photo ops, etc.
4. Build on contacts with professional photographers in the area to secure more work on projects and shows.
5. Particpate, again, in the Wearable Arts Show in the Fall.
That should keep me busy. I`ll be reviewing my Business Plan this month too to reassess what I wrote last time and update goals to reflect changes in my focus.

Re: Face Painting Goals for 2012!
Hmmm... let's see if I can come up with 10.
1. Expand my kit BUT not get carried away buying the non-essentials (adding some TAG pearl splits would be nice) Done already! Bought some new lovely TAG pearls and a few more one strokes and rainbows and I feel like my kit is at the perfect amount right now. 30/12/2011
2. Do at least 5 public community gigs (festivals, etc.)
3. Do at least 5 belly paintings one done 22/01/2012
4. Do at least 1 full body painting
5. Get good at bling masks and pretty eye designs WITHOUT references
6. Start keeping track of earnings in an organized fashion
7. Create a beautiful display board
8. Practice and create new designs at least a few times a week
9. Have a friend photograph my designs with a nice fancy camera for good image quality
10. Get out there and PROMOTE MORE!
I'll have to print off my list and keep it on the fridge... here's hoping for a productive 2012!

Re: Face Painting Goals for 2012!
I had built my business up a lot and was busy every weekend before I moved, but since moving here to northwest Arkansas, I've only done a few birthday parties. So...
*Marketing: Put out rack cards/business cards in at least 25 businesses in the area and keep them full.
*Festivals: Buy new tent, tables, banners, etc. I gave all my old stuff to my old partner because we had festivals scheduled and she wouldn't have had any way to do them. So by spring time I need to buy all new stuff, as well as fill out the paperwork and get booked for them.
*Training. I had trained several people back home, but now I'm all alone, so I need to get my daughter and at least one other person trained by festival time.
*Corporate work. I had contracts with several casinos, businesses, etc. back home. Now I need to get some packets made up and sent out in this new area. But again, I need to get someone trained because it's very difficult to do corporate work alone!
Those are all I'm going to work on this year... that's quite enough to keep me busy!

Re: Face Painting Goals for 2012!
I'm not officially a face painter yet. I've ordered my starter supplies and are waiting for them to arrive but here are my face painting goals of 2012.
1)Build a starter portfolio by the end of February. (I'm very determined and artistic prior to this venture.
2) Maybe a tiny Valentine's Day gig?
2)**Wishful thinking** have things go well to the point where I'm ready to start doing per/face cheek art gigs during our Carnival Season (late April early May).
3)Should things go well and I'm making a significant amount of $$. Start my own business (sole proprietorship).
4)Be the first face painter at our Agricultural Fair in November.
5)Have a couple Christmas party gigs.
6)Not rely so heavily on my Govt. job.
7)Be happy at the end of 2012 with my decision to take on the art of face painting.
All through God's grace.

Re: Face Painting Goals for 2012!
Well, I guess I should do this before the year is over!
1. Go to FABAIC and compete in both face and body painting.
2. Contact every agent in SE area.
3. Learn at least 3 new balloon and face designs a month.
4. Do at least 3 festivals or major events.
5. Do at least 1 paid body painting a month.
6. market and advertise for belly painting.
7. Do at least 2 paid belly paintings a month.
8. Join at least one marketing group but preferrably more.
I can't think if any others at the moment but I'm sure there are more. Although I think this is a very doable list for now.

Re: Face Painting Goals for 2012!
1. Get my basic set-up without breaking the bank.
2. Do face painting at an event... (I know, tiny goal but it's a big step for me)
3. Face paint at a kids party, for someone I don't know.
4. Get confident enough to tell my boss at Morrisons I want to change my hours so I can get to kids parties!
5. Perhaps not in 2012, but eventually I want to earn a decent income enough to quit my day job...
6. Carry on this Foundation Diploma in art without hating it and having panic attacks every week.
I think that's enough for now, I'm sure I'll think of more when it's not bedtime...

Re: Face Painting Goals for 2012!
I'm just getting started, so I'm not going to list every single goal. Here are several:
- network by attending all the jams and conventions I can feasibly attend.
- get more portfolio photos. I need more models.
- solidify my list of standard designs for boys and girls instead of doing any requests
- make a display board
- increase speed (stand list will help and more models)
- decide on my standard kit. I'm still figuring it out.
- get insurance
- get a distinctive look/outfit for adult events and children events
- Finish my set of promo materials and letters
- Do a press release
Well, they're more but that's a start.

Make money
A weekly gig that I can depend on - have already phoned three businesses about their 'kids eat free' nights - one to go...
To be widely known and recognized as THE face painter to go to in this area ...well, okay, as I'm the only one in this town, maybe that should be to make businesses aware of how important face painting could be for them and those giving private parties to realize how much fun face painting can be.
To do at least two parties per slow month (Jan/Feb/March?) and two parties per weekend in the 'hot' season...haven't had a gig since October? Gotta get more work, it's driving me craaazy
