Here's another option for your paints. I have two in the "Clear" cause I couldn't find the blue ones on the shelf but I'm loving the size.

Hey Kristal, If you have individual Snaz pots to put your cakes in (if not...I have plenty of empties you can have Wink) you could try the jewelry display case option that I use. I have my paints in the top and the bottom held fast with magnets. I just slip a 1/4" thick foam sheet into the case when I close it (just incase I bag it hard enough to knock anything loose), snap the clasp and go.

Mind you, this is a pretty old picture (my splits now have their own case and no longer use Snaz but the cases are still sorted by brand and now color order also...then I had to add TAG into the equation) but I can easily tote 24 pots of paints in a single box and it fits easily into my rolling toolbox and my scrapbooking tote, which every I decide to use that day. The cool thing is that for big, long events, I bring both cases, but I can easily move things around to condense what I need into one case if I'm limited in space/time. The cases split apart so if I only needed one tray at a gig, I could leave the top or bottom in my case and work from that. Each case is black, wood cored and about 2" x 14" (don't quote me) and slips into a backpack as well for travel. Looking at this picture, I'm starting to feel the buying bug...I miss the days when my kit didn't look so used up... Sad

Think yor kit looks awesome. How much did the display cases run you and where did you find them if you don't mind me asking?

I saw this case in Kmart but it was a bit pricey. Saw there was a simple clipboard type thing that opens just like it and it was for $6.50. So I will definitely be going for that soon. Smile

Thanks! I bought my cases last year from a jewelry supply company (they are display cases). I think they were between $15-$20 each and they have been worth their weight in gold! Yeah...that's a hefty price tag on a case, but when I consider the value of the investment they will be holding, I figured they'd be worth the piece of mind.

Pros:
Sturdy, well made case with secure steel latches and hinges
Professional presentation. The customer sees a professional looking case that makes it clear that this isn't just a hobby to you.
Easy to clean and hard to stain
Quick Set up and Pack Up
Versatility; I can use the top and bottom or I just use half of the case for smaller jobs and leave the other half packed.
The size is perfect for quick packing. I have a midsized backpack that one or both of the cases can slip into when I have to travel. The cases also sit nicely in my rolling toolbox and my rolling scrapbook tote, so I have versatility without having to swap my paints out often.

Cons:
They aren't cheap.
They aren't easy to find.
You do need to do some work to outfit it for your paints, especially if you want to use the top and bottom.

You know, back when I first decided I wanted to do this (read: copy you), I looked up the cases on eBay and they were $30+/ea, not including shipping! I just tried to find them again - and they seem to have disappeared. So...I'm SOL.

These green cases were $15 each, and they'll do! I will keep an eye out for the black jewelry cases, still, since it wouldn't be hard to swap things over (even if I had to re-do the metal sheet, not a huge deal). I love how clean and pro the black wood looks, but considering that I currently have bright blue jumbo palettes, it's not like bright green cases are a step backwards at all Razz

I'm planning on using 32g DFX/TAG and 30g Wolfe pots, so I'm good. Thanks for the offer, though, J!

That's it, I'm going to make it my mission to find these cases for you Kristal. If I can find my jewelry supplier wholesale thingy I'll use it. It's so stupid that the prices were jacked up so much and now they can't be found easily.
They're out there...people still use them. Dumb...dumb...dumb!

Okay Rant over.

You're welcome, Martha.

Those cases look great. They'd be useful for my cosmetics too. I've got palettes that are half empty. Could move the rest into one of those too. Then have separate ones for the painting. Hope I can get them over here x

Fetpak (I think that's what they're called) has similar cases for $15, they are single latched though. Yeah, that's still pricey, but so are my paints...or at least that's how I justified purchasing them, lol!
