No more! Regrets...
Just before I found this amazing forum, I bought a " barberstrolley" (Is that the right word?). I can store all my facepaint stuff in there, that's just OK. But I can't work out of it.
Now I've seen the fatmax, fell in love, and found out it's also for sale in the Netherlands. I love it...
But I paid a huge amount of money for my trolley, 135 euro, and the fatmax is 115....

Re: No more! Regrets...
I just did some research on fatmax. Amazon customer reviews claim it is made of cheap plastic. For the amount of money I would prefer a sturdier product. Just sayin'...
Re: No more! Regrets...
Fatmax is a Stanley toolbox...they are all made from the same plastic. It is pretty durable BUT can shatter at -40C ( ) Pretty much all "toolboxes" are the same materail - heavy plastic or metal.
The main thing, to me, that differentiates the toolboxes from "make-up cases" is the wheels for rolling across rough surfaces (toolboxes best), washability (toolboxes easily), availability(toolboxes are available everywhere) and cost (toolboxes win again... )
It is a tool, not a decoration.

Last spring I bought a rolling suitcase to put my face paints in before I found this forum. Half the time I went to pack it I would tip it half way through and have to pick everything off the ground or floor. When I found the forum I saw the Fatmax but when I looked it up online it was expensive. When we were out shopping I stopped into Home Depot to see it in person because I read all those reviews. I can see how it's not sturdy enough for 300lb of tools but face paints aren't nearly that heavy and it was a lot cheaper than online. Put your trolly in the bathroom and put hair or makeup stuff in it. That's were my trolly is because I was a hairdresser for 21 years.
Re: No more! Regrets...
Think I've got to handle this for the time being.
It's really too expensive to change already.
I've been facepainting as a hobby for a few years, only recently started to do more, because people asked me.
So, I'm not making money, just spending lots of it....
But, this week and next week bellypainting.... PAID!!! For the first time...

Re: No more! Regrets...
Well, I went weak last week and asked a store nearby to order one for me. I'll have a look, if I like it I'm going to buy it, if I don't like it , it's no problem, I don't have to take it.
Just got a call fot a birthday party, again paid, and I really hate unpacking and packing again, it's taking a lot of time!
So, I'm going to have a look and if so, I'll be using my barberstrolley for my crafting stuff, have a lot of that too!

Re: No more! Regrets...
Fatmax!!! I haven't used my Fatmax for the last few months, because I'm expecting and I can't lift heavy items in and out of my vehicle, and I've missed it desperately. I have always loved my Fatmax, from the time I bought it and brought it home. I even sprayed it with glitter spray so my husband couldn't try and use it for his tools.
It sits in my paint room, waiting.....to once again be loaded with all of my lovely supplies, bump up and down stairs, through the snow and all around as I cart it from event to event. Fatmax wins every time for me.

Re: No more! Regrets...
Fatmax is my fav. I'm with Shannon, the wheels are what makes it awesome! It's perfect for lugging around in festivals and outside birthday parties. It's so sturdy and holds everything and then some.
I've done a few small parties/events for around 8-10 kids and used my old tiny kit because I didn't want to lug that big thing around. Boy was I a mess without it! I kept looking for things and just not "in the Zone." The Fatmax is awesome for having a place for everything. I always know where my glitter is or my hair pins or my sponges. It's a dream for long lines when I have to know where everything is and have no time to fidget!

Re: No more! Regrets...
FatMax is my dream come true. I was looking into a camp kitchen but so glad i didn't go that direction. Fatty is heavy (just like me) and hard to get into the car (just like me)... but it is the best thing I have used.
Re: No more! Regrets...
With a bit of luck it will be in store tomorrow! Today I organized my paints and put them in stackable boxes with selfadhesive .... (don't know the name for it!). Don't have to use the lids anymore, so packed up quikly!
Can't find how to upload a picture from my iPad... Hmmmm... Have to figure that out!

Re: No more! Regrets...
We have 2 fatmaxs and two of the older metal stanleys that break into 3 peices the middle being many small drawers. We however do not open our to use as tables just as transport. We have custom stands to work off.
Hands down the staff love the old ones esp my son and myself. The new artists all started on the fatmaxs. The are bulk compared to the metal ones. I hate that they are so big and unable to break down for easier lifting and vehicle storage (not necessary in our 20 ft limo work van but in a car! Same thing I do not like about the artists to go tables - that said I def want one or two of those!!

Re: No more! Regrets...
My fatmax is 2 yrs old & going strong. Even my fear of the lid breaking off has been settled(I put a small stool under it & it's the perfect height to support it). It wipes clean every time & still looks great. She's a heavy thing because I keep everything (including my water) in her. But it's worth it(I wonder if she weighs more than me...). LOL!
Re: No more! Regrets...
Aw, you named your Fatmax. Fatty is such a cute name! Will have to think of a name for mine. Big Bertha?

Well, have I been amusing myself!!!
Pictures, pictures, pictures! But... think I may switch some things while working. Hubbie took a look and said: Has to be something on top as a " table, but you have to be able to put it IN your fatmax. I'll think about that...
Yet brand new and empty...
