Hiya! My name is Jeanette and I've been trying to face paint since my now 13 yr. old son was in Kindergarten. I'm an artsy fartsy sort so I have tons of crafty vices to juggle. I'm currently trying to hold fast to my scrapbooking, sewing and jewelry making hobbies while developing my skills as a face painter. I've a little bit of experience with painting and drawing but nothing to shake anybody's stick at.

I have to admit that I've been lurking here, reading posts for about a week now and I was pretty intimidated by the sheer talent that's leaking from this place. But the inspiration has superceded my feelings of inadequacy and I've decided to take the chicken costume off and make something of my penchant for the brush! I just did a charity job at my church with the new Snaz paints that I bought after reading up here and I ordered Shannon's book last night and I can hardly sit still for wanting to see it and just reading some of the posts and going to the resourced sites has opened my eyes to a world of artistic expression I never knew existed.

I have never charged for face painting because I just considered it to be playing, so I can't say that I can identify with the whole business aspect of this art form, but whose to say that after I finish absorbing some of the creativity here I won't be able to try for a paying gig? I've learned so much already and I'm on fire to learn more.

I guess I can thank you guys for that.... THANK YOU!!

Hi Shannon,
Yes, as a matter of fact. At the risk of sound absolutely absurd and brown-nosey, I am in awe of your skills! I've looked at all of your step-by-steps ( I wish I'd gotten to the unicorn before this weekend...I kind of floundered there at the church picnic). If I can get half as proficient as you are in this, I'll be a happy camper! I hope you don't mind if I bug you from time to time...?
