Another postcards question
Sooo I have been diligently working on my marketing for the fall/winter season, and am looking into postcards after hearing all the giid things about goprint.com. My problem is, I sit here and design them and all it looks like is a glorified business card. Might as well just mail my business card at this point. My question to you postcard entusiasts is... what do your postcards SAY? Are they pretty much the same as your business cards? Do they offer a promo? Help a sister out!
Re: Another postcards question
Pretty much a giant business card, with a bit more info, and space to write a message... that is what they are for after all.
I personalize the postcards when I send them.
(I cover this in detail - what I do with them, who they get sent to, messages used, in my ebook)

Re: Another postcards question
Also, if you want to track response, put an offer on th card. "Mention this post card and the code 'paint brush' and get a 3rd hour for half price" or some such.
Re: Another postcards question
Exactly what is printed on your postcards and what you then also add depends upon the specific purpose of that particular mailing.
Postcards are just another way of sending an announcement or a reminder, and certainly not good for 'satand alone' marketing. So .... decide upon what ACTION you want the recipient to take (go to your Website or Blog, Tweet, telephone etc etc.... and then put things on it that promotes that.
Oh yes .... and NEVER just talk about yourself!

Re: Another postcards question
I use my postcards to remind clients about my services, and send them out about a month before the date they hired me previously, I throw an offer to "book two hours and receive another hr for "XX"" or $XX off when you book 2 hrs or more.
I also use them to target specific companies and organizations, I offer them an "XX" discount if they book my services..

Re: Another postcards question
I made up a free collage using photovisi and then used that for a template for Vista Print where I got the postcards made up.
On the back of them I wrote that I was available for face painting and to celebrate the Holiday Season with them and their staff by making their event a colourful one with 'fantastic face painting', asked them to contact me quickly to reserve a date ASAP. I sent out about 35 postcards two days ago to all the local businesses that I thought might be interested. (I also drew some holly and berries and made the 'dot' on the I on Happy Holidays a snowflake/star.)
I'll let you know if I get any responses
This is what the front of the postcard looks like:
Oh, and I also used some postcards to thank those who booked me this past year, to say I hope that they'll consider me again for any future events, and to wish them Happy Holidays
