Re: 2 allergic reactions to dfx in 1 nite!! help!
There has been a few reactions to dfx black in the uk, just recently, Some think it may be down to the paint staying damp, as it is used quite wet. Others are not sure what might have caused it.
I have not had any reaction as of yet, but I am taking note as it does seem to be happening more and more.

after reading these replies (thanku) and other forums etc perhaps it was the black n maybe the dark blue...the black was still a bit damp in small pot with sealed lid...it does seem others have had a problem...just hope wolfe black has not had similar probs as thinkin of orderin it...i just thought if you left the lid off bacteria would get in that way...if thats what has caused it t
anyway the distributor is goin to send it back and dfx will investigate it, ive asked her to get back to me

I leave my paints out overnight without the lids to dry out after a gig. Sometimes 24 hrs on the larger pots of 90s just to be sure

Re: 2 allergic reactions to dfx in 1 nite!! help!
It could be reacting with something they have got already on the skin, I have been using wolfe lately but when I can't get that I use DFX black.
I think they are near enough the same formula so it might not make a difference using wolfe.
i have been thinking about it and the amount of painters using DFX worldwide everyday to the amount of reactions that I have seen reported is not that many. So I am continuing use as a line work paint, and snaz or paradise black for base work.

just to let you all know its bein looked into n my distributor has been mailing me n said as part of her message 'They are aware that the pigments in these paints are quite high and it may possibly be one particular ingredient (not confirmed) that is causing a problem.' il post if there are any updates

ugh!! I hate that this was an issue for you. I've been painting for 5 years and have never had a problem. I'm considering myself very lucky!!
Re: 2 allergic reactions to dfx in 1 nite!! help!
I'm curious why the instant assumption is that it's probably something else and not the paint causing an allergic reaction? Allergic reactions are fairly common, so assuming it's something else doesn't seem to fit. I think we're lucky we don't see more allergic reactions to our products given the large cross-section of families we paint...someone is bound to react at some point!
It does make sense to troubleshoot and make sure we didn't leave cleaning product residue in our brushes or sponges and that we're not encouraging bacterial and fungal growth by leaving paint lids on. After that, it's probably just some component in the paint that someone is inevitably allergic to.
It doesn't necessarily mean our kit is faulty, just that some people have hyper-reactive immune systems!

Re: 2 allergic reactions to dfx in 1 nite!! help!
I actually find the number of people who claim that "no one has ever had a reaction from their paint" a ridiculous assumption to begin with. I would never go to the trouble of finding a face painter to tell them if my child had a reaction unless I knew them personally. In fact, I would just want nothing to do with them at all. Why would you think that someone would tell you? I only know about the two children that reacted to my paint because it was a friend's children who happen to be allergic to everything.
It happens a lot more than many painters realize.

id been painting for maybe 6 months with snazaroo (ive not been painting long) n had no problems...id not had the dfx long n then i got the problems, i think id only used a few of the colours (black for def) a couple of times then the incident...i am worried now it could be bacteria or something but my initial reaction was it was the paint/allergic reaction...x

Good point Perry. Probably just don't KNOW that people have had reactions.
