Re: Over the moon!
Thank you for sharing this, it really keeps my spirits up. That is so great that they invited you back for next year because that means a steady income stream again...at least for a little while. I know exactly how you feel. I love having the income for the extra things and thinking..."I did that!" Way to go!!

Re: Over the moon!
I'm happy for you hopefully we'll get to contribute to the household income soon right now everything we make goes right back into the business.
Re: Over the moon!
Way to go!! That's awesome!! All it takes is one really great client like that to give you the money and visibility to skyrocket! And good for you for not letting those people who wanted to low ball you keep you down...you get what you pay for!

Re: Over the moon!
Oh you guys are all so great...without all of you I wouldn't be doing this at all. Such a wonderful group of people to be friends with .
Mana, it's on like donkey kong! We're gonna Jam someday for reals.
I have a little update too...
So I decided to not work there today, the woman who owns it told me that Halloween is actually usually pretty slow, so if I didn't want to set up she wouldn't blame me. I figure I'd rather take my son Trick or Treating than make a few measly dollars.
So here's the kicker from my last day of painting on Saturday....
A lady comes up to me and says "So have you ever done huge events? I replied with "well this is a pretty huge event, the largest I've ever done", and she goes "no, I mean HUGE". I said "like what?" she says "oh, like the mall" and I kinda sneered and said "well, the Mall generally doesn't want a painter charging per face for face painting and usually doesn't have the budget to pay a face painter" and I kinda thought she was just another person thinking that it would be a cool place for me to try to get a gig....UNTIL she said "well honey, that's all changed now! I'm the new Marketing Event Manager at the mall! I organize all of the huge events like Santa's village, and all of the other seasonal events, and I think I'd like to hire YOU to paint there for us!"!!!!! Now I don't know if this would turn out to be a dud, but it sounds like she is serious and she saw how much I was charging and how busy I was...so maybe it will be awesome?! She said Santa's Village starts setting up in 2 weeks so she'll be in touch with me before then!

I have to say I am really inspired by your posts! I know there are good gigs out there. How tired were you after a day of face painting?

That's so awesome & now you're on your way to many more awesome gigs! I wonder if a Christmas store would work w/ you next.... I thought Christmas tree lot but then thought it might be getting too cold where you live.
