Re: ice/snow effect
Nice idea, but I would not put sugar that close to the eye (eyelid/eyelashes) for fear of that person accidentally rubing the sugar crystal into the eye and potentially scratching their cornea. I don't know if you've ever had a scratched cornea but i hear they are quite painful.
Re: ice/snow effect
welcome Maaike. Does the sugar stick with just water?

Re: ice/snow effect
How about white glitter piled up instead of sugar? It would do less damage if gotten in the eye.

Re: ice/snow effect
So beautiful, I love the simplicity yet beauty of it! Thanks for the inspiration. I can't think of anything else to use other than christmas snowflake stuff that you put on the table. Maybe salt?
Re: ice/snow effect
The sugar is a very clever and very effective 'ice'....I love it in the eyebrow and the lips....on the 'half' face line it looks great too....I just wouldn't recommend that close to the eye (on eye lid) On a teen/adult this winter effect would be stunning and it is easier to clean off than paint...though I'd tell people to 'pat/dab' the sugar area on their faces to dissolve the crystals so they don't scratch!

Re: ice/snow effect
Gorgeous!
I would have never thought of sugar. It's great! It would dissolve in any liquid so it would not scratch.
Welcome to the Forum, Maaike! I have named our youngest daughter "Holland". She was so bummed out that we gave her such a weird name until the World Cup for Soccer came to Canada and all the hats/towels/shirts with "Holland" plastered everywhere. Holland now has shirts, hats, and towels with "her" name on it.
Sorry, I digress.
Happy Halloween!

That is so cool!!! I'd be wanting to lick my lips and taste it. ;-) Very neat idea. I can't think of anything else (other than stinging salt) that could give you such a cool texture.

Re: ice/snow effect
I've always used Ice FX for an "ice look", but I think the sugar is very creative! The "stick on" items I use with young children are actually cake decorations stuck on with corn syrup (provided sugar or gluten are not issues according to their parents) - it makes for an easy "off" instead of glued on gems.

Re: ice/snow effect
Have seen someone use epson salts for ice crystals, just placed onto wet paint. Looks like little quatz crystals.
Re: ice/snow effect

Re: ice/snow effect
I like to stipple white snow over blue with those little "stippling" sponges, the hard kind that aren't dense. They make great snow...also make great "waves" for water scenes and they make great beards on pirates.
