Re potting paint

ok lovelies, I finally found a container I think will work to put all my paints in, but now I have cold feet.

Will those of you who have transferred your paints into something else will you please post me some pics?

This is what I found:

I thought I would stick to having the light and dark side by side in a compartment because I love working from them in splits. I don't think it's too deep or too small.

I got cold feet, too, Summer. I bought a a couple of large sized compartmentalized beading organizers from AC Moore (1/2) off with coupon) with removable dividers. I started to scoop my red out and realized how dang messy the whole process was going to be and abandoned the whole project. What I did instead was a lot easier and I think my system makes more sense for me anyway. First, I removed the dividers and threw them away. Then arranged all my paints inside the way I wanted them. Next I used black self-adhesive Velcro strips cut into about one inch sized pieces. I put the "male" part inside the organizer and put the "female" part on the bottom of my paints. Make sure you arrange it so you can open and close the container properly. I took all the lids off my paints but saved them. This system allows you to pull the separate paints out if you want to but they do all set in place nicely. I also used an empty palette from Silly Farm for this same method. I found that the foam inserts didn't hold the paint in place and I can get a lot of one strokes in one palette using Velcro. I found the cheapest Velcro at Walmart.

I don't like containers with removable dividers - I find water gets under them and they slide up and paint gets into the slider areas....

I bought a similar box (from Michael's) recently only it was a "double" (two story) I went to the "Solutions" store (this is Ontario, Canada)..they sell all kinds of containers...kitchen, bath, craft, spice, luggage, and they sell small, rectangular clear hard plastic boxes with lids (size approx 1"x2") and they fit perfectly into these divided slots (double slot)...and the containers are a lovely size for split cakes. Also, the square hinged lidded arty cakes fit in here. I also have another, larger bead case from Michael's...that has 32 'pockets' (two of these pockets are smaller because they are taken up by the opening catch...these two were perfect for a gold and a silver) I have put all my assorted solid colours into these 'pockets'...they are solid so no leaking and VERY handy...no wasted space between colours. All my colours are between these two cases...and I have quite an assortment. Hope it will work for you....

If you don't like them in the new container, you can always "undo" it and put them back in the originals..it's not like you'll ruin them by putting them in a new container.

My old case took up soo much more space. And I saved room for my bronze and shimmer white when they come. So excited!

Like it! I have way too much paint, and still need to find a way to do something like this. I keep looking for that perfect container. It looks really good.
