Powder Base - where is it?
I saw a tutorial once about there being a clear waxy type base that you can put down under the powders to help them stick and pop... Can anyone please tell me what that product is and where I can get it?? I just got my first powders and I love them but applied to the skin with nothing makes them too sheer and wipe off easy.. And if you want to leave a cool tip or two on what to do with these powders I would appreciate that too.. Thanks

Re: Powder Base - where is it?
Hey.. have you tried an actual smoothie to apply the powders? I was shocked at how much more opaque the coverage is because of the fibers. Kabuki brushes simply don't lay it on thick enough. Also.. if it's a compressed powder like Ben Nye "lumieres", then a dry sponge does very well. I couldn't believe how vibrant and dark they were for the base of some of my animal designs. I haven't needed any base.

I use smoothie for starblend and ben nye. It covers very well without any base and I paint on lots of dark skin.
Re: Powder Base - where is it?
my preference is a lollipop blender from Amerikan Body Art, they are 60 cents each, and I cannot get a smoothy blender to last long enough to justify the cost, I just toss the lollipops once the spongy part is too old to wash. I tried the velour powder puffs (from the beaty supply or drug store) they work too!
Re: Powder Base - where is it?
Thank you ladies.. I do have the lollipop blenders from Amerikan Body Art, and just in case you want ot add it to your kit it is called Shadow Poxy, its a primer base for shadows and does make the colors POP alot for more dramatic effect.. I have seen it now in a couple different places on line and not more than 6 bucks. Im using Mica Powders, I wanted to add powders to my kit and they have an AWESOME clearance and I bought it all.. As a newbie I wanted to have a little of everything in my kit and I have only been able to do arm testing and it wiped off really easily .. heres a link to the tutorial (hehe also sponsored by Americkan Bodyart.. Im pretty sure that I watched their tutorials and thats why I went to the website and purchased from them... So much research, tutorials, blogs, FB pages, forums, to hard to keep track sometimes)

Re: Powder Base - where is it?
for the mica powders, try the Mehron Mixing liquid. just a little of both turns it into a paint that will have great staying power. I would pick up the gold and silver Mehron powders too...they are the bomb.
