Annoying habits do your kids have when being painted? Empty Annoying habits do your kids have when being painted?

Post by elantaura Fri Oct 07, 2011 11:21 am

When you actually manage to rope your kids into being face painted what annoying habits do they do?
I ask as I am finding my kids some of the hardest to paint now. compared to general public.

My eldest seems to sneak biscuits, when I wash to brush, gets up grabs the mirror and talks in general.
My boy squints duck weaves and dodges looks down.
My younger girl Talks non-stop I have to wait till she takes a breath to paint around her mouth. She is Usually telling me how board she is.
So if your child allows you to paint them are they harder than a normal kid and what do they do?

Oh my goodness that video is too funny. I have neighbors children I paint and one has the runniest nose I've ever seen. Trying to clean that up and paint is just icky.

I have a weird habit when I paint, I hold my breath. I keep a very clean mouth but I hate when people breath in my face so I don't want to give that experience to kids. It helps me keep my lines steadier too!

I wasgoing to say...there are LOTS of kids out there that would be thrilled to have their faces painted. I just set a date and call a few people and a time and they are there and thrilled...if my grandkids don't wantpainted...so be it...let them watch....and the other kids are thrilled to death!...and feel so special!...so post a fp date from time to time and they will come!!!!...

In our house, getting painted is their job. Just like feeding the dog or taking out the trash. They are members of this family and must do what is required to help the family.

I Have to paid my daugther 1 dollar per face, and even though I have to bribe her, but when she doesn't want to get paint she calls the neighbors to do her duty, she moves a lot and likes to see herself in the mirror all the time.

OMGosh! My kids are the hardest!

My son gets this nervousness like he can't sit still. Sometimes, I have to have him stand by a wall and put his head against it so I can finish! LOL

My daughter has fake yawns! Ugg! She can yawn 10 times in 2 minutes! LOL

Yes, mine rarely wants to be painted unless she can watch herself in the (hand) mirror the entire time... Unfortunately she moves around constantly so she can get the best angle to see, because my 'hand is in the way'.
I suppose it's a good thing, in that she wants to know how to do it all; wants to learn to facepaint. But she's coming up on 10... Loads of time yet to learn. Me first! Very Happy

snap to all of the above!! I don't even ask (aka. beg) my kids to be painted anymore. I myself don't have the patience with them anymore because of all of the above reasons! Plus I now have to pay them. lol It's just not worth it.

My lil one is only 1 so I don't insist him to be painted (YET). When bribes work with my 6 y.o. he asks "Have you finished?" when I still haven't brought the brush to his face. Rolling Eyes And why, oh why he steadily SUCKS HIS LIPS??? Oh, and he looks up and frowns too!!

Hahahha! This thread cracks me up! My son is SO over being painted. Bribes work sometimes but even then halfway through he says he's done and says "if you don't stop I'll cry"...thus rendering the paint already on his face useless. I get maybe one good face out of him every couple of weeks, and that's asking every day.
He knows how to manipulate mommy Rolling Eyes.

Post by Mandi from Tazzie Mon Oct 10, 2011 11:19 pm

My youngest son doesn't like to be face painted, I've tried a couple of times. So then I suggested being body painted - like a superman t-shirt & he's like mmmm well alright, but we will have to bake a apple pie Razz & I'll let you paint me.

My eldest son is quite good for letting me try new designs or if I got TAGGED (remember that game we all use to play Rolling Eyes ) However I can't paint too close to his eyes, cause he gets all blinky eyed & looks like his eye's may water. And we all know it's all over red rover when the tears fall. Crying or Very sad

They never get better my Daughter is 19 and she squirms more now than she did when was 13.She is picky about what I paint on her and she usually looked bored or pissed when I take the pictures. Tried to invite the area kids over this last Saturday and no body showed but if we're doing a festival they are all in line to pay and get it done. Go figure?

Post by ellamenno Tue Oct 11, 2011 1:38 pm

I have this problem, too.. and I really really need to practice! I thought I could do a free thing at the library, like, just jump in and offer free face-painting for an hour sometime after-school-ish time. But... i'd need to get a sitter for my own kids, plus i'd use up supplies so I'd lose money but... I think I'll ask and see if I can do it because it would be cheaper than a class and buying a practice head.
Is there any legal issues with doing something like that does anyone know? Do you need a license to do face painting in a public place?
