Garnet and Gold
Does anyone have suggestions for garnet and gold paint (manufacturer, website, etc)? I need some that will cover the entire face well. I am looking into doing Florida State University home games.....
Also, does anyone know if you can have CUSTOM glitter tattoo stencils made.
Have any of you ever made your own stencils???
Thanks!

Re: Garnet and Gold
You can order custom ones from a couple sites I think (creativeartsstore.com does them for only 35 cents each in packs of 10...same as they charge for premade ones... but not sure if they started selling them yet...they just told me on the phone a few weeks ago).
Re: Garnet and Gold
Ask Metina which paints she stocks and could recommend from the Face Paint Forum Shop.

Re: Garnet and Gold
My friend cuts them out of mailing address labels and they look great. Although it is time consuming and the reds emblem is easy. It would depend on the depth of the emblem. Maybe they sell that emblem in a scrapbook punch, it's a long shot i know..looked and didn't see one. You could try like Go Noles or FS or something..
Re: Garnet and Gold
I just looked at the make up samples at work and found a couple of gold and garnet options.
Mehron precious gems has a powder actually called garnet, and then they have the gold metallic powder. They are both powders that have to be used with a mixing liquid (not water) I am guessing they would not have the control you would need in powder form.
the other choice I found was the Kryolon which I must say is LUSH. the Bronze of course is the best gold out there, and there is a new colour, just has the name 861G which is a deep metallicy red. I just might need to get it just because!

Re: Garnet and Gold
Love the precious gems powders - the gold makes an amazing metallic crown.....you can mix it with your paint, or water, or the mixing medium. I will try and post a pic tomorrow.
Re: Garnet and Gold
you have gotten the powders to work with water? they seem to not mix well and flake off with water from what I have experienced!
Re: Garnet and Gold
I don't know if I could help since I graduated from the University of Florida!!!! LOL
The DFX metallix yellow or gold would be good. I like the Kryolan IF Bronze, but I think the DFX will be easier to cart around as it isn't as soft. As to garnet, this could be a little harder.
Can anyone think of a color/brand that might closely get this shade of red?

Paradise Beach Berry comes to mind.

the kryolon IF 861G has that interferenz shimmer shine if you want a gem like quality.

Thanks guys! Metina - I graduated from Flagler in St. Augustine so I'm NEUTRAL but FSU is the hometown! And yeah, I'll probably end up getting the master's there! LOL
Thanks guys for all of the help! I think I'm going to order a variety from your suggestions and see what works best. I can probably use them all..... drunk game going college students are usually just happy to be painted FSU colors.
And Metina - for the next UF/FSU Rival game that's in Tally - I'll even practice GATOR faces! LOL

Re: Garnet and Gold
I apply gold dust over pink, red, green....most any colors actually. It looks nice and makes any color 'metallic' and sparkly!
