Quickest booking EVER
Answered a craigslist ad today from someone selling a laptop battery, which I needed. Called and asked if I could come get it, she said she was on her way home but her hubby and kids were home if she didnt get there before I did, it was all good. I thought since she mentioned kids, I will give her a business card. Went to the door, handed her the money for the battery and my card, she looked at the card, handed me the battery and asked if I could be there Sunday. I said yes, ran to the car, grabbed a contract, handed it to her, she filled it out, signed it, viola! Booked a birthday party gig in 5 minutes flat, Just thought that was kinda cool.

Oh goodness yes! I have one of those plastic expandable files in my trunk at all times. It has copies of everything I have i my home office. Contracts, MSDS for the paints, brochures, business cards (which I also have in my purse), a photo album portfolio, liability statements, anything and everything.

Oh, goody...I'm in the process of putting together a little "promo book" to carry around everywhere I go, and it's basically just a binder with those sorts of things in it. Been trying to figure out what else to put in it and you just gave me a couple more good ideas. Thanks!

Re: Quickest booking EVER
Awesome!!!!
I was face painting once at a pediatric office for their fall festival. A woman came & said her daughter couldn't get painted because her birthday was later that day. She also commented on how she wished she'd known of me sooner. The party was just down the road & after the gig, so she booked me on the spot & I got 4 other bookings & tons of trickle down business from that one party

That is great for you.....Way to recognize & seize the opportunity.
I always keep a mini kit, business cards, post cards, appt. book, and contracts in my car. This has paid off on more than one ocassion.

That's great!
Yesterday I went to the park with some friends and a lady approached me.. she recognised me from the markets and asked me if she could shout me breakfast at a cafe this morning and pay me to paint her kids for their book parade before school today. Not a big job, but.... Ok! A girl's gotta eat!

Melody, that's FANTASTIC! Way to think fast, and be organized and prepared!
@ ChangingFaceDesigns, so no worries about heat spoiling the paints/consistency? I don't know how hot it is where you are, but here it gets to 38 Celcius (100 F) in the shade in the summer, and the trunk of my car gets...*shudder*...hotter. It's a great idea though. Just wondered how your paints fare in the changes in weather?

I was wondering the same thing about the paint in the car. I never leave mine in there because the heat will melt it. Maybe I will make some of those baby cakes i have heard so much about and keep them in my purse!

[quote="lorrinwagner"]Awesome, that must be a really good business card:)[/quote
LOL. I do think it is possible that having three photos of my work ON my business card is very helpful.
