How do you deal with the "made in China" thing?
I know, I know. Only use Snazaroo. Well I use it, but it has its place and its limitations. My neighbor started grilling me about my paints being made in China. I just told her that she may want to write her congressman because 50-75% of everything we own and use is made in China and my best recommedation to her was not to have her kids face painted.
I assured her that all paints are FDA approved ect...But at the end of the day you can't convice some people. Again I just said it would be best for her not to create any magical face painting moments with her kids.
I am just amazed at how combative some people are.

I haven't really run into any problems, but for the most part, mine are all Snazaroo. I would direct them to the company websites so that they can check out that information for themselves.

For real Metina? Somebody actually had that reaction? Wow, i've said it before, but will say it again; it never ceases to amaze me the things people will fight about. LOL IF it was that big of a deal for her, you'd think she would have already known what paints were good to use.

I always have original containers of Kryolan, Snaz, Fardel and Grimas in my kit... they when someone asks me and I tell them I use professional products made in Europe I can produce the containers to prove it... I've had some moms take the Snaz and read it all.
I also carry the MSDS with me too although no one has ever asked for that.
I don't mention that the Wolfe is made in China.... la la la la la.....since I don't use it as a base, only details, I'm not going to stress about that!!

There's no getting away from some things being made in China, unfortunately. I was in the art store a few weeks ago buying brushes, and the boy at the cash register was looking at every single thing he scanned and reading aloud where it was made. No other comments, just reading the "made in ___" sticker and moving on to the next item. It was pretty disconcerting, not only that he was doing that, but that the whole time I could hear him he never said "USA".
Re: How do you deal with the "made in China" thing?
It all boils down to the negative press that some face paint has gotten recently. When I wouldn't debate with her, she moved on, but I just thought I would ask how you guys deal with the question.

I have the Snazaroo sign on my table and carry my black cake seperate, for obvious reasons when it is hot, but real handy when anyone asks about where they are made or ingredients.
Well, come to think of it, I finally outgrew my pallet of split cakes and made another cake for rainbow butterflys and leave the lid on the table. I noticed on this lid it says Snazaroo and rite under it in big letters "Made in the UK"and noticed some of my other empty cakes don't have that on the lids. Just another sign of the times, I guess ; )

Didn't she wan't it to be made in China, because she thinks it has a lesser quality? She wan't to support the national economy? Or?
Never had anyone asking where it was from, only what was in it. Probably will have one day ;-)

Re: How do you deal with the "made in China" thing?
There have been a lot of recalls and issues with products made in China.... melamine in pet food (which killed thousands of pets in North America), lead in toys and there was a face paint recall a couple months ago (a cheap brand in tubes sold at Oriental Trading)... So people here are really anti-China products.

Pfft well unless she was Amish or something she pretty much will be using most stuff that was made in china. Its not an issue; as long as the brands we use are safe it doesn't matter where unless its a political or airmailes issue.

That is what I tried to explain to her. If China only turned out "bad" products, they wouldn't be the economical super power they are. All countries have product recalls. Another instance of common sense flying right out the window.
