I love my job!! (warning pic heavy)
Last year we painted a VBS for pennies on the dime, because we have some friends there, and frankly we wanted to. They didn't plan to have fping this year...that is until all the kids wanted to know when the fpers from last year were coming. So last minute they called and booked us, at reg rate.
One cool thing about tonight was no board. We passed some pic flip books, but the kids were getting so creative, and it allowed me to cut free. Also I felt a sense of confidence in my abilities for the first time since I started painting. The painting in the pics aren't perfect or special but they are mine. They aren't in our pic book, so they are proto types to say.. From my head....but of course some of your paintings helped me do this...Shannon your unicorn( which beats up my unicorn) and someone on here had a pretty cherry tree on the face, and Suzy your tree you did on your thigh...all helped me tonight. I love all of you.
So wonderful to know that the favorite part of camp last year was the fping. And I got to spend hours with my fp partner who is also one of my closest friends.
Plus I painted standing up the whole time, using a stool for the kids. I will never go back to sitting. I loved the freedom to move around, and my back doesn't hurt a bit. Yay Kids, and Yay Stool!
These are a few reasons I love my Job
Also I now glitter poofers!

Yay!! Everyone looks like they had so much fun! WTG!!
How tall is your director's chair? I have a bad back, but think I'd like the freedom (as you put it) of moving around and if your back didn't hurt...maybe mine wouldn't. I'll have to try some painting here at home with our bar stools to see.
I saw this one from a site someone else posted here and it looked very interesting. Not for the attachments, but for the implied stability, lightweight materials used, and outdoor fabric.

Not enough in pocket yet to make the plunge though.
I love the red bird in the tree, btw. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the purple/black swirls with the white flowers. Beauty!
I am happy you had such a free-spirited time and that they seemed to love that, adding their own ideas!

Yay!!! This job does rocks!
Great pics!
I need to get a directors chair! My back is killing me! I did a VBS last night and I just had the two folding chairs I still can't decide which chair to get.

Re: I love my job!! (warning pic heavy)
Many moons ago, when I worked as a makeup artist, I stood to make up. Now I sit, but I do miss that control. My feet hurt when I stand all day, but, I still toy with the idea of how much more I liked standing. Anyone ever try a padded matt to stand on? I saw one in Loews...it was for mechanics, but seemed really padded. Kind of like the ones for kitchens...just wondering if anyone fought the feet and won!
Re: I love my job!! (warning pic heavy)
Yay for a wonderful VBS fp'ing experience! The pics are fantastic!
I paint in this chair but never use the side table. Maybe because I'm a leftie or just because I already have a 36" tall folding table next to the chair. If I could buy again I'd get the one without the table which right now is $30 cheaper!
WIth table:
http://www.amazon.com/Earth-Executive-Tall-Directors-Chair/dp/B0033YXVWE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1312650879&sr=8-1
Without table:
http://www.amazon.com/Earth-Products-Deluxe-Directors-Holder/dp/B002K3Y2JA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1312650879&sr=8-3
There is a $40 director's chair on Amazon but it has a large gap in the back which to me the risk of little one's falling out isn't worth the savings.
I am 5'9" and my back still has to bend to paint the younger kids in my tall chair. I need to add a thick comfy pillow to raise them up higher. This thread has info about the folding table I use and LOOOOOOVE:

I've seen another local fp'er who uses kids alphabet mats to stand on, I thought that was very clever! I wore super thick Sketchers support sandals at an 8-hour festival last month and they definitely helped but I can't paint in those during the cold months, lol.
Congrats again on a fun and successful time!

I have a mat that's meant to go under a weight set(it links together like a puzzle). I use it for my festival jobs when I'm standing on concrete all day & it is wonderful!
Re: I love my job!! (warning pic heavy)
Restaurant supply stores for mats... I got mine for about $60. It is big enough for my tall director's chair AND me working to be on it.

I just bought that Earth Executive chair an it rocks. Used it for a VERY small gig the other day. Everyone loved it. Plan on using it for Relay for Life next Saturday. I wish I had gotten the one without the flip out table though, it gets in the way.

Re: I love my job!! (warning pic heavy)
Sillyfarm sells chair covers for the directors chairs to cover up the gap and I think it may even have a cushion built in to sit the little ones up higher... I thought they were a good idea because they would stop the chair getting dirty with paint or whatever.... but I found the material gordy.... and they were perhaps a little expensive for me... I rekon you could stich one up yourself if your wanted and have your bis name put on the back or something.
Nice work Eva! So good when you find your creative freedom in painting! xx

Those turned out great, I have been going everywhere without a board and loving it. Really helps my creativity and style. Today I did a peacock, dolphin, gecko, and a seahorse on the fly (and ankles), so much better than working from pics. I'll have to try the director's chair, looks so much better!

I've just got myself some of these. They came in a pack of 4 so I just left them packaged & stood on them for my last festival & it was fabulous for my feet. We were on concrete otherwise. And I did have a problem with one of my feet called plantar fasiitis, basically a very a painful foot & made me limp alot. It's all better now I gave in & went & got a quarterzone injection in my foot. And it's no longer painful.
