I stood my ground!
Ok, I have been volunteering at the gym daycare to get up a rep and practice designs with my little snaz palettes. I choose the day and the hours, normally 3 or so and have a blast doing it while my daughter plays. I get to practice what I need to paint so Its a win win.
They now want me to move onto family functions and cover a few events- fantastic right? Well they were expecting to give me one month free membership (like the do when I daycare it) for the entiree event. I said I was sorry but that it was a different situation entirely. I told them I wouldnt mind accepting membership months for payment, but it had to cover my supplies cost. So I got them to give me one month free for every hour I paint! -happy dance- I was shaking inside but I held it and did it. They thought about it and told me today its ok. Thats about 40 an hour, which is only about 10 cheaper than what I charge now! Im still rather new and have loads to learn! Im proud of myself! Yahoo!
its amazing how I feel when it comes to me compared to how I act if you mess with my child. lol mouse to lion

Please help me. I keep running in to situations where people just want the "hook up". I want my business to grow but I don't want to go under in the process.

Re: I stood my ground!
Good for you! At the end all they could have said was no. I try to tell myself "small children won't die" when I over react and get stressed out.
A great lesson to be learned here ladies. "You won't get what you don't ask for."
