So the last gig I painted at I got some pictures back from a little kids' grandpa. He got some great shots of me at work. But looking at those picts I noticed that my sitting down set up had me sitting really awkwardly- and I was achy after that gig.
So for yesterday's gig I tried standing up. New taller chair. And while I'm a little worn, I'm not achy.
Awesome. I can stand and paint.
Now I should say, not achy, except for that one spot on my back where I kept leaning over to get things out of my fat max. It looks like if I'm gonna stand, I need to re think my set up. SHUCKS!! I LOVE el max du fat!
Now I'm on the look out for *something*. I've got a chair. I like not having to 'unload' things with the fat max. Does anyone one use anything similar on a table top?
Just looking for ideas and suggestions.
(and yesterday's gig was at the local black light mini golf, and it was AMAZING!)

The only advice I have for standing ( I stand if its a long gig) is to stand on a fatigue mat or wear Crocs or some other softer soled shoes, and make sure your work surface is high enough so you are not bending all day to get your supplies. I have a table that is adjustable to my height. I also stretch and bend over between customers so my back doesn't get stiff. I have a stool so the kids can climb on the chair so I am not lifiting them. The parents are not always paying attention to get them in the chair but I won't lift them anymore. Good Luck

The new FatMax is taller.
I have placed a piece of Foamcor that I have scored & made it into a trifold tabletop. I put grommets and bungee cords to attach it to my FatMax like a tall tabletop.

Vi from Sparking Faces has a youtube review of the artist on the go table... you should watch that as a possible idea

Oh the artist on the go table calls to me, then my bank account weeps at the call.

I've spent some time looking at tables this morning and may take a trip to the hardware store sometime this week. I dream of some table top version of the fat max.
And I had invested in a pair of the Sketchers and they were awesome. Looked silly with my calaveras skirt but I was comfy.

Hi i remember someone posted that they glued 5in boxes to a foam board, stuck another foam board on top and taped around the outside - then used this as their tabletop for their fatmax - making it higher for them to use standing up. Hope this made sense? I never did it myself but it does intrigue me as a great idea - what do you think?

The top table really isn't a problem, my arms are long enough I can reach it. It's that second level that's killing me. I keep my sponges, glitter including my suzy's sparkes, and water to clean brushes. I moved my water up to the top and did better but I still had to reach every time I needed a sponge or glitter.
