I booked a last minute gig which is bittersweet!
Its for a big event here in town where I have been trying to crack locals for a few months and this is a children's play place! Anywho, They called me about 4 days ago and I said Yes.
I went to Michael's bought my sponges and bling and BOOM, I get home and realize TONIGHT that I only have My three little snazaroo palettes because I never ordered my paint! I coulda sworn I did but I didnt! So now Im threatening to run out of paint. Worst case is sending my husband out to buy it and bring it as he comes in case. I did a 'mock' up board on poster tonight and the choices all include SMALL masks and half faces. I cant believe I did this, and its such a great opportunity to goof up on something silly like that. I never thought to check something so basic. My lesson is well learned, let me tell you.
OOOO I dont have the supplies! Im a bit panicky, not about painting but about running out. Please tell me others have made this potentially horrible mistake?
Metina, be expecting my order tonight!! LOL

Breathe, don't panic. Use a lighter hand to apply bases, when you run out of a colour just use another.... no biggee.

I wouldn't worry about it.. even the small pallets go further than you think they will.. Micheal's has Snaz, just go and buy a couple more and then stack the paint all into one container. You'll be fine until your paint arrives.

I am always amazed how much farther paint goes than I expect. It will be okay! Good luck!

You will be fine. I had a huge festival event the other weekened, and I was so happy when my wolfe white arrived in time for it. Guess what! I didn't even open it. The tiny bit I had left lasted for the entire festival, and I'm still using the edges to practice with. I didn't even have to open up the new ones! It will be okay. Push the colors you have, and the kids will agree. You will do a great job, and they will love you!

I finished it!! I painted 100 kids in 5 hours. It may not be alot but its waayy better than my old number. 10-12 an hour!! half the kids that went got painted and I was running low on my last 5 kids! I made it with what i had. I ended up doing a purple snake because I ran out of green, but he was ok with it once I told him purple means poisen so I threw in some crossbones on it. LOL dont know if its true but it turned his frown into a smile, lol

-happy dance- it went great! i got SOME pictures, but after it picked up I depended on the museum to take the rest. so who knows what i have. oh boy was it HOT i totally understand how paint melts now...its crazy!
fun times fun times.

Awesome! glad you had a good turn out! paint does go a long way,
Also Metina has this amazing *super* fast shipping, you can always relay on Razz ...
I liked how you got away with the purple snake! sometimes you have to speak the kids language... For that alone you need to be creative sometimes Smile
Good Job!
Oh and 20 kids in an hour - thats Super FAST!
Yay to you!!

10 -12 is more then reasonable - once you start churning out 20 per hour you can't possibly give any details or anything - that's only 3 mins per kid for 5 hours straight? doesn't sound like fun does it!
Well done on you gig - here's to many more success's in the future!

Oh and by the way your whole "Cheese and Crackers" is just so cute.

oh, I thought that was bad timing! yeah! so Im not far off from the 'usual'. good, the people loved my art and Im happy to say there were plenty of inspired designs today from here. =0)

I do say weird 'bad words'. My two year old mimcks everything, so I use cheese n crackers and rubber duck the most. i like'm and it comes across nice when kids are around! lol like today a lil tiny one grabbed my melty black paint with her little fingers digging into it then dropped it onto the rocks. I went oh RUBBER DUCK! and everyone started laughing as I was cursing inside with a fake smile. of course the mom was super apologetic, the lil one managed to sneak past us both and got away with her plan of attack as soon as i turned to paint her sister.

cheers
I advertise 12-15 per hour but think I painted 20-25 an hour on Friday Very Happy
Double loaded sponge or artycake quick design & very simple outlining(I chose the simple outlining more due to the temp of the gymnasium I was melting in that due to the need for speed).
