I can't decide between the two ?? ( make up cases )
If you guys had to choose one for your paints which one would you get? I like the price and height on the black one and I love the color of the pink one. As far as and the convenience and quality of the inside goes I have no clue which is best. I see a lot of people on here use tool boxes but I really need something that is heat resistant and TALL ( preferably 3feet+ ) I also love the way these cases look.
I would really appreciate some suggestions, thanks!!

I'd get the pink one.. I dont think I'd have enough 'stuff' to fill the larger black one, and I like that the two parts can be used seperately so you could set one up with your basic stuff in case you want to just grab it for a smaller gig, and have all the rest in the other for when you take your entire kit.
That's my 2c worth.

I wouldn't get either... I like the fact that mine opens into a table so that I can just flip the lid and work. But if your heart is set on those, I would go pink, cuz it is pretty

I do like your case Suzy, but I'm hoping to dismiss a table all together by getting a tall/large enough case to where I could use it as my table and my case. Does that make any sense?
Would you mind sharing how tall your case is? How much did it cost and where did you get it? Thank you!

Re: I can't decide between the two ?? ( make up cases )
But I think with your case that you have to take it a part in sections to use the compartments, still needing a table.... right?
Mine is 33 inches tall. I got it from Menards and then painted it. Here is the link

It would take some " tetris -ing" around. I was hoping I could keep just place the necessary items in the top when I arrive at the gig and go from there.
Waaahhh there is no Menards anywhere near me not fair!! 33 inches would be perfect too

Re: I can't decide between the two ?? ( make up cases )
hmm well it sounds like one of those would for me. I'll see if I can't find one online. If I can't I'll have to stick with the make up cases. Thanks for all the help Suzy!

Re: I can't decide between the two ?? ( make up cases )
Hate to be bad news bearer, but I tried to find them online and it was a no go. I wound up having to drive an hour and a half to get it, but it was sooo worth it.
I'm looking at getting one of those train cases as well, but for my giltter tattoo kit (top) and my airbrush supplies (bottom). I wouldn't want something like that for my face painting because I need my paints laid out, lids off and ready to go... heck, I put a metal sheet in the top of my Menards box so I don't even have to PICK UP the paint pots...yup...I'm THAT lazy. The train case looks like the only way you could store your paints would be lid on and you'd have to do some sifting to get what you wanted...unless you only used one color per section which would be a major underutilizatioin of $150. That sifting time can mean an increase to your per-face time, which in a festival setting would mean lost revenue.
In the end you have to do what works best for you, but for me an my needs...that case won't work.

LadyJayde, if you had to choose another case other than your Menard's one, which one would it be? I've been hearing a lot about the Fat Max but it looks really short, does it work well as a table?

I am not sure how much shipping would be if I bought it and sent it to you? I mean the case is only like $60....

Re: I can't decide between the two ?? ( make up cases )
I love the pink, but to keep clean after packing it around for awhile, I am thinking the black would be more realistic. I have a similar case to the fatmaxx, but I hate packing it unless its for a festival, I think I am going to go with travel makeup cases.
Re: I can't decide between the two ?? ( make up cases )
Suzy, thanks really sweet of you to offer to ship it for me. I'll look into some shipping options
Eva - does all of your stuff fit comfortably in a travel case?

Re: I can't decide between the two ?? ( make up cases )
Ooooh...love the pink one. I'd love it even more if it were a bright primary color! These are very cool. I'm too cheap to invest in one though. Even though I sell Kryolan products and could get one at cost! (wow, I'm cheap!) I carry all of my necessary paint supplies in a canvas bag with a shoulder strap and lots of outer pockets, that I actually found at Fleet Farm. It was sold in the fishing gear I believe. Was a steal and has held up for over 12 years so far with not a single thing on it breaking down! They charge a lot more when marketed as a makeup case. Try looking at sporting goods stores in the fishing stuff, or in the tool storage section. Those do look really nice and sturdy though! My personal goal is to travel as light as possible so I'd never carry that much paint. I also have a folding card with wheels that I use to haul everything (paints, chairs, boards, etc). I built a wood lid that fits on top and functions perfectly as a table top, so it converts into my table for the gig. I made a nice fabric cover that wraps around the cart, a sign that slips over the handle on top, and a design board that fits on the front, so it transforms into a professional looking table setup. In the end, everyone works differently, so go with whatever works best for your own supplies and setup!

Fat Max is just $50 and free shipping from HomeDepot.com!

This one looks taller but doesn't really let you see what the compartments look like:

Re: I can't decide between the two ?? ( make up cases )
Interesting Gretchen! I'm pretty cheap myself but fell in love those neat make up cases. They just seem so sturdy and professional looking. Right now I'm carrying everything in a canvas bag ( no pockets ) I thought about carrying my stuff around in a kid's pack back that looks like a bunny, it's so cute but not really practical. My canvas bag works fine if I have a table to organize everything on but my little table is a pain to carry around. The legs unscrew so I've got the top of the table and four legs that like to fall out of my arms all the time.
I've never seen a folding cart before!! Where did you get it?? Do you have any photos? I'd love to see!

Thanks for links Gretchen! I really like your idea of using the top of the cart/tool box as a table. Now if only it had built in drawers hmmmmm Maybe I should put wheels on a small dresser hahaha

Maybe I could use something like this? I'd have to find a way to Attach a handle to it and keep the drawers from sliding out. those things are horrible about that.

Why not a FatMax? It's half the price and you don't need a table. You can get them at Lowe's or Home Depot. Go look at them! I love mine
