Yeah sorry but it's not possible to always put your family first.
Just ask my daughter as she is getting dragged around the shopping mall with me!
If all my family was here - there is no way I would do it. Doesn't matter how much they offer. But my mum is sick and lives over 10 hours drive away, my dad passed away and my sister an her kids live in another city.
That leaves me with the inlaws who are portuguese and can't be bothered speaking english so I can understand and be part of......... yeah thanks but no thanks.
****On a side note I haven't heard back and don't expect too.
After reading all your responses I think they will find a young one with no kids who will do it for much much less. There must be at least 50 painters or more in this city.

To be honest, if I were the client I wouldn't consider 3.5x- no matter how fat my pockets were, that just seems like a big jump. Time and a half for most holidays and double on Christmas sounds like a more reasonable increase to me.

yeah it is.
Can you tell I didn't want to do it and didn't want to say no much?
I really hope they don't take me up on it... I thought about double but it didn't seem enough to put them off. lol

Tash let us know if they take you up on it, won't you.

Also did you take the gig at where the easter show use to be held in Sydney, I can't remember the name of the place but it's a movie type studio thingy, Fox studio I think? And you would of had to pay a fairly big stall fee for you painting & hubby doing the tatt's & I think I remember a photographer type stall. Or you were weighing that up against a local smaller market. I've just been wondering how that paned out for you.

If the price was right I'd do it. I got a young one but a mortgage too. That said I probably couldn't as my partner is working or on call every xmas so i got to be home. I'm scrooge though, till I had a grom I worked every xmas to let those who liked it enjoy it while I enjoyed holiday pay rates!

If I didn't have my kids I'd do it, but I always have my kids on Christmas day, so it'd be a 'no' for me. However, my ex gets them on Thanksgiving and Boxing day, so either of those I'd be happy to face paint on - would quote double the normal rate.
