Still working on the wings.
My daughter kept asking me for rainbow wings.... Every time I try and do some painting at home - life gets in the way and I end up painting at like 10 pm at night when my brain is all fuzzy... then I look at the pictures the next day and go.... what the ? was I thinking? .... so there are some glaringly obvious woopsies that I would have fixed or removed had I not been half asleep.... I have been known to be painting faces at 2am.
Anyway thought I would post them here - they are only my second wings - so more improvement is imminent.
( ignore my feeble attempt at shadowing - it was at this time I realised the time and the fact my daughter had to have a bath before bed and gave up on it.)
Might try it again today - as it's rainy and cold

Hey Tash,
I'm loving your wings, especially the colorful ones. I have a suggestion just because it is a super easy way to do wings. I use my prisma cakes and a 2 inch flat to do these and then added line work. It only takes like 10 minutes to do a whole set of wings which is why I'm so fond of it. Hope the idea helps.

Way to go Ladies. I still haven't tried wings yet. I hope to have courage one day.

I LOVE these.... Do you have a step by step? I'm still working on my one-stroke strokes (if that makes sense) and would loooove to see how these come together

Re: Still working on the wings.
Tash their really lovely I bet your daughter loves them. The only part that caught my eye was that they don't seem joined. And then Whitney shared her pic & she has the swirl connecting hers. I suppose depends what type of wing design your going for though really. I love the colours & vibrancy of yours & if they had a swirl to join them it would seal it for me anyrate.
Whitney I didn't even realise there was a 2 inch flat brush. My largest is a 1 inch, it shows that I obviously haven't done much body painting hehehee love your wings thanks for sharing. I'm feeling the painting wing inspiration coming on.

Re: Still working on the wings.
Tash, I love the colours! The splattered dots are fun, too. I agree - I think that joining would help tie them together, or making it look like they are jutting out of her skin...does that make sense? Like they sprouted from her back, instead of just being on the skin.
Whitney - that's great! I should find myself a 2" flat, too, haha.
I have a question - do you start at the bottom and build up, or at the top and go down? In my head bottom to top seems to make sense because you can go over the bottom layers, but I would think it would be easier to start at the top and work down from there...

Re: Still working on the wings.
I work from bottom to top with the darkest color facing up. I did it with the lightest color up before and it throws the shading off pretty bad. I got the idea because Rebeca from Arty brush does one stroke wings, but she uses a smaller brush. I liked the concept when I saw hers, but kept thinking that it would take forever to paint them. So I went to the craft section at Walmart one day and found that they sell a 2 inch flat for $7. I'm not going to lie and tell you it's the best flat brush in the world, but for the amount that I use it, it serves it's purpose. It does tend to split a little easier than some others, but it usually is fixed by making the consistency of my paint a little thinner.

Re: Still working on the wings.
WOW, brilliant use of one-stroke; those are gorgeous. Wish I had a little girl around to try this on; my three-month-old is a bit young. Maybe I'll sneak in on my son while he's sleeping and do some boyish ones!
Re: Still working on the wings.
Shhh... I painted my three month old all the time when she was asleep. I hope that doesn't make me a bad mom.

I love the wings!! Both pairs! I got asked to do angel wings on two boys at a birthday party a couple weeks ago and would have loved to have seen these beforehand! I think mine turned out alright...but I love your colorful ones so much better!

Re: Still working on the wings.
ARGH! I was just at Walmart today and I didn't think of checking to see if they had cheap body brushes! Oh well, in 2 months when I go next I'll take a peek.
Re: Still working on the wings.
I bought the 2" flat from WalMart a month or so ago, and finally got the chance to try it tonight!
The only multi-colour split I have that's wide enough to use with it is my DFX rainbow, lol...
Attempted a rainbow wing on my leg, but it kind of makes me think of a psychedelic acorn, albeit one that's a bit on the skinny side.
Whitney, how often did you have to rinse your brush out? I love how vibrant and crisp the bottom/first "feather" is, but the layers got more and more muddied as I went over the previous layer...

Re: Still working on the wings.
Kristal, I only had that problem as my brush ran out of paint. Once I reloaded, it was no problem. But I also was using the prisma cakes and I don't think they get as muddy as the TAG,Wolfe,DFX.
