Family Fest placement not near families
We got our spot location for a family art festival we're doing this weekend. We're on a corner next to motorcycle parking and across from the beer/wine tent.
Huh.
Looks like I need to bust out the tattoo style designs, graffiti and gear my hub up to offer for us to paint in the black and white tattoos.
We're even the only body artists there.
The organizer thinks it's brilliant. I talked with her already.
*Is confused*

Weird. Did you ask to be near the children's area when you applied? I always put that in there, even if I've done the event multiple times.
Ah well, the good news is that drunk people spend more money and tip well.

I dunno... is the beer tent open the same hours as you will be?
My most profitable events/gigs have involved alcohol.... drunks tip really REALLY well.

they gave us the wrong lot number at the last event we did and we ended up being set up next to the beer garden! Like everyone else mentioned, drunks tip really well!! plus you get a draw from another crowd instead of just kids! Kids are more likely to hunt you down for a face paint, adults are more likely to do it just because you are there!

Re: Family Fest placement not near families
I'm thinking they will put the kid in line, slap some money in the kids hand and sneak straight into the beer tent to get a quick one while the kids are getting painted.
I have found at festivals and things here the kids area is often far away from the rest of the festival and I miss out on a lot of exposure.... people have often asked if I was there at all!
Just saying... things aren't always what they seem.....

Sounds like it could be a blessing in disguise!!!
May it make for a really prosperous event for you!!!

It was the motorcycle parking that through me. I don't mind the drunks/beer tent at all except if the bands are really loud. Then it makes it hard to hear clients. I've had that before too and it was...a challenge to say the least (when kids cover their ears and run from the booth, there is a problem).
From Ren Faires we have this "rule" you all might enjoy... One beer=normal spending, three beers= double spending, more= crazy spending and awesome tips plus they drag their friends along.
The Ren vendors have noticed that for every two beers we make more.
Shannon, I honestly don't know the hours it's open. I know on Sunday it won't be open the first few hours we are because in NYS it's illegal to sell alcohol before noon on a Sunday.
Perry, all the spots are filled. There's no where on the main drag to relocate- and right now we're on the main walkway in the center.
I'm not complaining, I just thought it was weird that something being advertised as a family event would have a beer/wine tent and motorcycle parking in the center.
