pirate princess (mermaid) parties
hi guys,
i'm not sure if this is the right place to share this....but....i wanted to share my idea for pirate/princess/mermaid parties.
i've been having a ton of pirate/princess (mermaid) parties lately....at least one every week end.
so, i put together a little kit....
the boys get a "treasure from the sea" in the center of their bandana. just like the mermaids get one in the center of their crowns.
it's quicker then painting something...they love it, and it goes along with the bling i use for the girls.
this week end i happened to bring along eye patches...i was going to use them for decoration....didn't happen
but, and this is what i really wanted to share...i had a set of three year old twins...that couldn't sit past the bandana.
so, i gave their father the eye patches to wear. they looked so cute!!
from now on, i'm going to bring along eye patches for those kids that hate when you paint around their eyes...or, just are to young to sit for the whole painting. target has ten patches for 2.00
i'm posting a pic of my little kit...but, the colors are really off. sorry.
i'm also posting my bling mermaid....
just sharing a tip that works for me

I love those little skulls!! Are those spiders rings or stick-ons?
(It goes without saying, the mask is beautiful!! and the fish is a great addition)
I'm just curious, do you use a 3/4" or 1" on your masks? Thanks.

Rebecca that idea rocks! I have a whole mess of pirate fans in my own home so they are now re-theming upcoming birthdays as we speak!
On another note, I can't wait for the day when I own every single artycake ever! My favorite things.

Rebecca great work and great idea about the eye patches. If you don't mind my asking where did you get the gems /skulls from?? I would like to incorporate that idea.

i pick up my bling and skull stickers at every craft store i enter...michaels, joanns, tall mouse...i'm always on the look out.
the spiders are stickers that i added rhinestones to.
i use a 3/4 inch flat brush when i paint my crowns and masks.

Love this idea!! I need more bling!!
Are the bling that you buy self adhesive... is that ok to stick on the skin or do you add something else to make them stick?

Re: pirate princess (mermaid) parties
oriental trading has some bling in simple shapes that self stick that I use. They also have foamy shaped stickers that self stick and they work great to. I keep two little boxes- one with jewels, and one for foamies in my kit.
I love the spiders! Ineed to stock up before Oct. On my way to art stores now, lol

Re: pirate princess (mermaid) parties
Rebecca, I have so many questions I could ask you about how you do your themed parties. My husband has been bugging me for a couple of years to start doing themed parties. We don't have any companies in our area that offer anything like that. Would you mind if I contact you to ask you some questions?
Re: pirate princess (mermaid) parties
Wonderful ideas! Kids will drive crazy! And preeeeeeetty work on your mermaid. Is there any step by step about it? Thanks for sharing your talent and ideas.

I wish I could find some of those skull and spider blings over here. The boys always seem to miss out when it comes to the little extra touches.

Re: pirate princess (mermaid) parties
I'm going to a Pirate themed party tomorrow. Here is my pirate, after going through the forum, google images and you tube. I hope someone can use it. Thanks for all the inspiration. Thanks Rebecca, I bought eye patches to add to my kit, great tip.
My daughter was such a good sport, sighing, "mom I can't believe your painting me like a boy!"
She liked it.

Re: pirate princess (mermaid) parties
I had a mermaid party yesterday, and was trying to find a good thread to post some pics in. I thought this one fit.
I thought a "sand castle crown" would be really cool for the girls.
and I was inspired by some designs in this months challenge to make this one I call "mermaid dive".
one more, "sea shell splash".
I don't have pics from the actual party, wish I had time to take some. The kids were so cute!!

LOVE it! Very cool idea for the center of the bandanna, painting little skulls in the center is like a time vampire some times.
Also FYI: Sharing goes in it's own thread or stuff like this with a 'how to' would go in the 'How'd you do that?' section.
*thumbs up*
