You can't go past the Lowe Cornell! My birthday's coming up and when my friends ask me what I want I ask for face paints and brushes to play with . . they're very undertanding of my obsession! hee

Re: Linework: your favourite brushes and paint for the job...
I started with Lowell Cornell but they fell apart in no time flat. Granted I suppose I am not the most gentle person out there, but still the brush slowly started turning into a fan instead of a round... grrrr
I pack them in a brush holder and I never left them in the water. Still, they splayed and some even fell apart all together, the golden part unhinging from the long stick.
I boiled the hairs and it fixed it for a few gos and then it was up to its old tricks.
I am talking about the cheapo Cornells though, not the American painter which i also have and like. The Cornell with the clear red brush handle that come in packs. I have ended up re-purposing them to my daughter and her water colors but I have to say, you get what you pay for.
I use American Painter which I am OK with
Winsor which I like a lot
and sapphire which i am in love with.
%40 coupon and they end up being like $4ish dollars each.
Oh, Also have a few Wolfe bros brushes and although they paint well they look extremely cheap because the paint all chipped off from the wood brush. Someone recommend that I paint them with clear nail polish, but to be honest, i don't have time, would rather just get a better brush.

I switched from Wolfe to DFX white and black. I just like them better.
I've been trying out new brushes lately, but still have some old favs, too. I'm loving:
#6 Sapphire Robert Simmons (old fav)
#5 American Painter
#3 American Painter
#2 Lananickle Snow White
#0 Royal Majestic (old fav)

My L.Cornells have grey see-though handles and they're great. By far the most consistant quality wise. #2 and #4 are great

This thread is older but I wanna say that I am with Shannon and the Escoda ladies - sable rounds are to die for! They hold SO much paint, you spend less time redipping your brush. Expensive tools, but really worth the investment, IMO.

Barbie,
So nice to “see” you on the forum. I’ve only had time to skim lately but I haven’t seen much of you – I miss your posts.
You always have such positive things to say. I hope you will post regularly again.

Hi ladies - just want to say thanks. I had a really busy streak for a few weeks and between my preschoolers and the busy weeks just didn't have time to play here. But now I am back
Debi (FaceFantasy/Rmplemntz) taught me the Cyberlox - I love wearing them, I feel more confident and FUN in them This is my first pair and I like how they turned out

I've been wanting to buy some Cyberlox. I just can't decide if it's worth making them or buying them.

Your first order of materials will be pricey! If they are just for you, I suggest just buying a finished set. If you plan to "play" with them, or make them for others too, then just order and make them yourself - they are fun to make!

love the cyberlocks!
I have a kryolan round number 5 and it's the first decent brush I bought over 2 years ago and it's still my favourite! I just bought the same one a little while ago..

I saw your avatar last night Barbie...and broke down and bought some blu enad black tubular crin. What type of elastic do you use? or do you use a ribbon or lace. I want to find the easiest way to attach them to my hair/head.
thanks!
thanks!

i trully love them HOWEVER I'm concerned I will get addicted to these too and have them in 20 different colour combinations! I think I should just buy one pair! Where can you buy them? Is there anywhere in Australia or a site with reasonable shipping?
I have enought problems controlling my face paints, fabric and stationery addictions!!!! I finally got over my shoes addiction - that took years!

I'm also afraid that I will keep buying crin in every color! I know I could make bows for my little girl or even offer them at my gigs I also have a fabric problem! I have invested a lot of money in fabric.com!
