Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
Cassandra - I have done it both ways..... works great either way. Her product quality is excellent - Mark Reid even used her glitter gel for his LaFete work and Nora Susko (my fast paint - move the line hero!) loves it!!!!
Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
From working in the heat, I have been forced to put the glitter ASAP and realized that it looks much nicer to NOt have the glitter on the line work, dots, and stars. And yes, thanks so much for glitter to cover the little oops!
Princess Meg, if you want to lighten your load, don't forget about the Swap Shop. I am sure there is a tackle tart or two on here that will gladly take some of that glitter off your hands.

Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
I'm still on the fence about poof glitter. I watched a glitter tattoo video of Sillyheather's on youtube, and she used the poof glitter on it. It looked like a TON of glitter came out. I feel like I would squeeze the bottle and dump half the bottle on the child's face.
Maybe I'll take Angie's recommendation and try Chit-Chat's site. I think I'd like to be able to control the size of the hole in the bottle. Any colours you would recommend, Angie? I'm fully stocked with glitter right now.. but it won't last forever!

Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
Wendy - do you ever have issues with the bristles smearing wet paint? Or are you using it over a base before line work?

I have six MUST HAVE colors that I just love!
They are all Holographic/Iridescent (at the bottom of the page if you are shopping Chit-Chat)
pink - My most used color, dusted over any pink designs (which is half of what I do for girls!)
purple - to go over purple/lavender designs like flower crowns, masks and sometimes over red flames or black dragons and tribals
green - this holographic green is amazing! I really love it for any green designs, even boy designs like dinosaurs and dragons. It's better applied on the actual design and not just a general dusting, since it isn't as translucent as the lighter colors
yellow - I dust all of my rainbow butterflies with the iridescent yellow. Really makes a huge WOW factor without overpowering the design
orange - for tiger faces, flames, hibiscus, etc
white (clear) - I use this to dust over any color that I don't have glitter to match, such as blue designs or multicolored
I have a couple others that I "borrow" from my glitter tattoo kit on occasion. They are opaque so they have to be applied more carefully so as not to get on any unpainted areas.
Black - boys love the black for batman masks, pirate patches and tribals, applied over the black paint for a "manly" shine.
Red - I occasionally use red for spiderman and flames, but I don't keep it in my FPing kit on a regular basis since it's uses are limited and I am a minimialist when it comes to taking along things I won't be likely to use.
Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
Thanks so much, Angie! I will definitely try those colours out as I use up my glitter stash! I noticed she has empty poofer bottles, too... hmmm
You know, I was thinking about boys and glitter the other day. Glitter makes the design so nice, but I'm never sure if I should ask the boy if he wants glitter, or just add it because I like it!

Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
I usually ask boys, very matter-of-fact, if they want glitter. I'm always surprised at how many say yes. If they say no, I tell them that it really makes the design look awesome. I may tell them that it's very manly.
Sometimes I forget and don't even ask, but I've had a couple of parents comment on it in a way that made me feel as though they'd rather not have had their son's design glittered, so I try to ask first. I almost always ask girls too, just because occasionally I'll get one that doesn't want any glitter.

Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
With boys I call them scales, shiny shields. light reflecting mist ect... to get them to go with glitter or I just don't ask. If the protest, I will say that it is needed to help the paint dry. It just makes the designs look so much better.
Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
hehe those are good ideas, Metina! I find the boys are usually fine.. even WANT a little glitter.. it's the dads who don't like it!
I find that if you're more subtle with the glitter on the boys, it's usually ok. I think I'll stick to asking, though.. or convincing

Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
I normally ask. Both boys and girls. The same with colours on lips. For some it is the best part, and some hate it.. Often I put glitter gel (the liquid stuff from Graftobian) on the girls lips. Gives a nice shine and stays longer than lip colour. Plus: with the girls with tiny upperlips it don't seem so obvious as with a real colour.
Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
Please don't misunderstand what I wrote. I am not some pushy glitter weilding painter. LOL They usually see what is coming and if they say no, then of course I don't use it.
I wonder if pushing glitter on children who do not want it could be considered child abuse? LOL

Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
hahaha you're so funny, Metina. I can just see you with your shirt sleeves rolled up and a "glitter or else!" face on! Don't worry, I knew what you meant

Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
I got a gold & irradescent glitter from $illyFarm and after 6 months of use on every face, I still have over half a bottle left and a full bottle of gold. I will only reorder the 'fairy dust' because it goes with everything ; )

Okay. I ordered! I have a pound EACH of the irridescent: white, yellow, pink, and periwinkle blue. I also ordered a roll of "I <3 Balloons" stickers - I'm stoked to get them! I'm foreshadowing many, many months of use...
Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
Your house will be COVERED in it!!! It is impossible to move glitter from one container to another without getting it EVERYWHERE...

Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
Haha everything I own is already covered in glitter anyway I plan on funnelling it when I refill...but heaven knows I'm not opposed to being sparkly!
Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
Cassandra- Sorry I didn't see your question about the shimmer powder brush dispenser and how I use it. I really LOVE the way it looks when you lightly brush it over your mostly dry base - it gives a magical sheen...... I think is a faster more refined and classier look - shimmery look - and it just POPS when you put the line work on top.
Darn- I don't like glitter spills in the house!!! I have a daughter who has a glitter phobia!!!! (poor her!!! she won't even give me a peck on the cheek if she sees me with a glitter speck on my face!)
I like the sparkle and fun and have found most boys don't want it once they are past the age of 7 in any of my work. I still ask to be fair.

Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
1 pound is a LOT of glitter! But it's so much cheaper to buy that way. Using a funnel helps. You can pour it into an empty 2 liter soda bottle to store, and just pour into your poof containers with the funnel.
My husband hates the glitter. LOL. I think the guys at work make fun of him. But if you're careful with the refills and storage it shouldn't be TOO bad.
Wyndy, I am always surprised, but a lot of the boys around here will accept glitter. They think it looks cool on the designs, especially if they've seen other boys getting it too. I can almost always talk them into "scales" for dragons and snakes, or sparkle for flames. They love the black glitter for tribals. It's so tiny that they don't really think of it as "girlie" glitter.

Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
WyndyO, I'm a bit confused now. Are you using glitter or shimmer powder in the dispenser brush?

Re: Does Poof Glitter Actually Poof?
Cassandra- I have glitter in my 3 dispenser brushes (irridescent, yellow, and pink). Sorry if I confused you.
Lisa R also sells the super fine shimmer powder ingredient and they are supposed to be great for using in the brushes as well.

Do you have a photo or link where I can see these dispenser brushes?
