So I was walking around Michael's (with my 40% off coupon in hand) and look what I found!!!!
The PERFECT split cake case. Clearw15
Shocked
Are you seeing what I am seeing?
It was screaming "I AM MADE FOR SPLIT CAKES!!!" and I found it in the bead section.
With my coupon it was a little less than.... $5 Very Happy

With a holding case and about 50 mini containers I was in heaven. The split containers even came in 2 different sizes I love you

So after transferring plus the new splits I made with my metallic paint here is what I got

and I still have about 10 more empty containers Smile

Well just about every split cake i have made had a vision behind it. For example, the rose split and the leaf split. I have a lot of variety lol... I used this box for 2 gigs now and i found the one i needed relavitly easily because the boxes are clear enough. I also organize them a bit by color. Red, purple, green, blue, special occasion/holiday and large sponga cakes

Once you start you just can't stop!!!! I use split cakes *Almost* Exclusively.
I do not use them for (All)bases and for line work... lol

I Was thinking of buying another one of those cases and transferring my paint into it....
Just whole colors in each of the cases.
I don't know.
I struggle with it looking unprofessional but it would save SO Much space. I could fit all my stuff in a small tote if I transferred my paints in there

I do have some advise though. If you do take the plunge and cut your cakes leave half of the color untouched and then put a complimentary color next to it.
Then with the left over half cakes, cut them up but have a plan!
I started with...

Roses: Red/dark pink/pink/light pink/ white
Leaves: Black/ dark green/ green/ light green
Fire: Black/Red/ orange/ Yellow/ white
Purple Flowers or Butterflies: Black, Dark purple/ purple/ light purple/ white
Rainbow: ROYGBIV
Water: Dark Blue/Blue/Light Blue/ WHite

Those where my first 6 cakes.

Every time I needed a rose, BAM, done.
Dolphin? I would wip out my water one.
Wiggly kid who is too young to be painted but the parents are hard headed and waving money at me? Rainbow across the cheek.
So on and so forth.

It makes everything I paint look SO much better.
Shading, depth and pizzaz included.

IT does take a little practice to get the strokes down but once you got it, it is SO addictive Wink

Oh, I forgot to mention that the cakes that have the complimentary colors across from them can also be used as big sponge split cakes.

For example, I have Neon Yellow and Blue next to each other. I often use them as the base for my dragon.

I stipple it on with the yellow towards the inside of the face and the blue towards the cheeks. This gives the colors I Want, in the places I need AND It makes green where the colors met.

The individual colors on the half cakes can also be used independently of one another with a sponge or brush without fear of mixing them.

This being said I also have a solid color of the colors i use most frequently.

I guess to sum this up...
I have a problem buying paint lol hahahaha

Well yeah usually my last order from Sillyfarm I ordered some brushes a brush wallet, 2 illusion mags & a Mark Reid DVD & it cost $50 just for postage. I'm sure they could have packaged it smaller to get a lower shipping fee. They sent it all in a box which had loads of room left in it, when I opened it I did think geez I could have fit so much more in. But thought better of that cause I would of had to spend more Rolling Eyes

I squealed when I saw it lol....
It is just so perfect!!!!
Metina, you should buy some of the cases and sell them on your website. I would have gladly have paid $20 for it.
If you think about it, $20 is a steal. It comes with over 50 containers and a case for them.
Besides, not everyone is near a Micheals.
