To get OUT of being painted
Tonight, out of nowhere, my son asked if I would pierce his ears. To boot, he wanted gauges. I agreed (I'm a piercer for those who don't know so don't freak out! ) and we set to task. For whatever reason, his right ear is a bleeder.
Now I have to tell you, I can pierce anyone without a problem. Not him. I was freaked out at causing him ANY pain so I was apologizing as I did it. At the end he looked at me and said:
"Alright, Mom. You finally got to do your art on me and you can use this in your portfolio so I don't want you asking to paint my face ever again. No more asking. I would rather have bleeding holes in my head than be painted." (no joke, I put temp tattoos on all the guys at his birthday party a few years ago but he didn't want one, however, he already has his first tattoo designed. lol)
I cracked up laughing, right after I told him I still wasn't going to stop asking.
He cracks me up.

That is fab...so much better than my Mother refusing to look at me for a month when I had my nose pierced.
I didn't even tell her about my tattoo until she noticed it when I was in labour with my first baby, I'd had it for 6years!

Re: To get OUT of being painted
LOL.... thats funny!! I told my daughter who wanted to get her lip pierced, that I was ok with it, but that for letting her get pierced she owed me tons of paintings....
Seriously, might as well get something for being a cool mom letting them get pierced.... :-D

OMG Synni! He knows better!!! lol A friend of ours is trying to get my son to pierce his nipples next but my son just shakes his head. I'm okay with that since he's only 16 and is a wrestler. They're highly impractical, which is what I keep telling him...not to mention I think they look like doorknockers. lol
Daphne, very true.
macjaddie, my mother didn't know about my first tattoo (hip) until I'd had it about 8 years or so. We were camping and I was in a bathing suit. Then I got 3 more (including one really big one) and she found out 4 or 5 years later. You'd think she'd be less critical since her brother was an award winning tattoo artist when he was alive, but nope. She's not down with any of it. lol
Skidzz, that's what I should have told him! Inflicting harm on him was so traumatizing to me that he owes me face paintings. Hmmmm...think it's too late to try it?

Re: To get OUT of being painted
door knockers lol. yes i can see how bad an idea it would be being a wrestler lol wouldn't want to rip one off hehe.
Re: To get OUT of being painted
LMAO... Yes I agree with the door knocker thing!!! Although I never got the whole piercing nipples or other more private parts lol...... Its never too late to get the paintings out of it... LOL... This thread cracks me up!!
Re: To get OUT of being painted
Love it! My mom let me get my tongue pierced when I was thirteen with the intention that if I did that, I would never be allowed to get a more permanent tattoo. Her rationale was that the piercing could always come out and it wouldn't close doors in my future like a facial skin piercing. I think it worked, 13 years after that I took out the piercing and I still haven't gotten a tattoo. I love moms who just roll with it, but have a bit of underlying reverse psychology in play.
Re: To get OUT of being painted
Skidzz, I asked him this weekend if I could paint his face and he stuck to the ear excuse. lol Perhaps I can wear him down!
Julie, our theory is better to have me do it or someone else that I trust than have him go out and find someone in rebellion, which his friends have done. We did the same the other night when he wanted to make a home made blow torch (lighter and hair spray). I'm a fire dancer so I set the rules and had 3 of us adults supervising. Extreme restriction, I believe, is not a parents best friend! lol
And yay for your mom!!! I do agree with the tongue over face piercing. Absolutely.

Permanent tattoos...yet. I have the kit and had a tattooing friend teach me, but I've not had the time to dedicate to it.
Re: To get OUT of being painted
That is sooo funny! My kids beg me not to paint them too! But since they are still pretty young usually a dollar or two does the trick! But I have to say the whole reverse thing didn't work on me...my Mom signed for me to get a tattoo when I was 16, now I have 5, one of them is a half sleeve and I am totally adding on! I actually think that is something that I would love to do...My husband has actually volunteered to be my first victim but I am kinda like you I think it would be hard for me to put him in pain. Have fun with your son! I can't wait until my kids are in their teens!
